8 Benefits of Lymphatic Massages

Everyone knows to do some form of stretching or massage rolling before and after a workout. Trainers and professional athletes all over the world aren’t doing it for fun, they won’t treat it like an option, and for good reason. When you’re not taking care of the muscular and lymphatic systems, it can lead to feeling “tight”, inflammation in the body, injury and other pains that are 100% preventable. A lot of people aren’t sure of the lymph systems purpose and have no idea why they feel sluggish constantly and aches within their body.

Myotherapy stated simply, the Lymphatic System is our body’s waste removal system. It’s a network of vessels similar to the circulatory system. These vessels are filled with a fluid called lymph, which carries metabolic waste, toxins, infections, and other foreign materials to lymph nodes, where they are then destroyed.

So, lymphatic drainage is a technique designed to stimulate the flow of lymph (the fluid that transports white blood cells, oxygen, and nutrients to tissues throughout the body).

As we go through our everyday lives, we’re always absorbing so many toxins and unwanted waste. A lymphatic drainage massage is a form of gentle massage that supports and encourages the movement of lymph fluids around the body so you can function at your best and most lean self.

This technique is beneficial for many reasons such as:

  1. Fighting off infection
  2. Detoxifying the body
  3. Improved digestion
  4. Reduce water retention and swelling in the joints
  5. Reduce stress and fatigue
  6. Speeds up recovery after exercise
  7. Improves scar tissue and cellulite appearance
  8. Boosts weight loss

If you’re going to try this method, you could accomplish it at home but I recommend going to a licensed therapist or masseuse the first time.
