life: straight outta LAX
so, i was slightly MIA for a bit. last week i flew to LA to direct a video for DEF JAM and USHERS’s new artist JUSTIN BIEBER. he’s a 15 year old Canadian cutie that can sing, dance, skate and solve a rubix cube in 38 seconds.
although i was super sad i had to fly to LA on my birthday and cancel dinner plans with friends and family, i got the chance to catch up with some friends in the city of ANGELS, like – CURT@!N$, TAZ ARNOLD, HOLLYWOOD HOLT, MANO and TERRY KENNEDY.

*to the airport…next stop, LAX…
*flying is so archaic, seriously. why can’t we teleport by now?
*baggage.
*i can always at least say that “LA has great weather”, but why was it 90 degrees in NYC and 55 degrees in LA 
*literally, as soon as ELLE and i stepped out of the rental…i hear, “Vashtie?” and it was homegirl from DIMEPIECE. apparently there was a photo exhibit happening in the telly…the STANDARD DOWNTOWN.
*that is not true.
*UPSTATE, represent!!!
*ELLE treated me to a nice birthday dinner…my 2nd night of birthday cake. in fact, i ate birthday cake 6 times in the past week!!!

*after we skimmed the photo show, we went to the roof for a little hang time. we ran into KASHIRO, whom we met on my birthday a year ago when i had my birthday party in LAS VEGAS at THE WYNN.
*i plotted an attack on the pool for 10am, after a good workout.
*there were too many weirdos and we didn’t stay long. we couldn’t figure out why so many people wanted to talk to us, randomly about nonsense.
*yay, sleep…
*bright and early in the AM. after a nice workout, it was TO THE POOL!

after location scouting and tech scouting and checking out the fitting, it was on to dinner with our god friend CURT@!N$.
*day 3, after casting i decide to cruise the street for more options. i also get a chance to hang with TAZ for a minute.

later, i hit up MANO and HOLLYWOOD HOLT since they were in town for a party. we decided on dinner and although ELLE and i wanted to get some FAT BURGER, MANO wanted to eat at NOBU (fancy pants).

*ELLE is super allergic to seafood and had her shot on her just in case. NOBU is all about the underwater cuisine…

*yes! cake again!!!
*these guys were pure laughs all night. it was epic.

next up, party in SILVER LAKE – SPANK ROCK x BELVEDERE. we went for 30 minutes and then headed back to the telly…it was to be an early morning shoot.

april 28th, 2009…my friends and family came to celebrate my birthday at santos! music by JUS SKE, Q TIP, CIPHA SOUNDS, IRON LYON and JASMINE SOLANO.
friends like KID CUDI, PLAIN PAT, AMANDA DIVA, and more were in attendance! it was a blast…

weeks before, i came up with an idea for a dress that was executed with the help of my designer friend SHANNON STOKES. i had no idea how great it would really look…
my one super big request for the party…
a birthday cake, made to look like my JORDAN 3′s. yes, you heard me. someone suggested a cake of my face, which sounded plain bizarre. i though “why not my 3′s”, i love them and would like to eat them!
it was HOT and SWEATY madness in there, but here’s how it went!

that’s right, i have been knighted!
ok, it might have happened at MEDIEVAL TIMESs in a pre-birthday (the real birthday is april 23rd!) bash over the weekend with fellow taurean friend GREG – but, i am a knight.
it was my first time at MEDIEVAL TIMES which is located in NEW JERSEY next to YE OLD SUBWAY. i was more than stoked. we were all pumped in our group of 12 as we took a short 12 minute bus straight to the castle of fun.
*before it all started, ELLE said “NOTHING GOOD CAN COME OF THIS”.

*everyone else had the regular. we had to eat without silverware, because there was none in medieval times – which was fine, but why is there PEPSI or DIET PEPSI?

we were all beat after the 2 hour show. it was a lot to handle.

another friday night at THE OPEN PARTY with me, Q TIP and RICH MEDINA. we had quest DJ’s RASHAD and QUEST LOVE. they kept us dancing all night. it was so hot in there, i can’t even begin to describe it in words.
although, if our party could speak…it might say “Best believe I sweat out weaves, give afropuffs like R.A.G.E.”

i’ve loved his mug even before we met, about 6 or 7 years ago. i’d always see him around town. mouth full of solid gold fronts, skating without a care in the world. we ended up living together a few years later and it was pure fun. we had one TV and he had dibs on it always so i was forced to watch every single sport known to man…it drove me insane.
i miss living with this big lug! happy birthday, KK.

bless his heart. this dude can sing better than most people with a recording contract but, his pronunciations are slightly off, making for pure comedy. this made me laugh out loud and not LOL.

i don’t like it when ELLE-INGTON goes down south to visit her family. mainly because i can imagine all the southern cuisines she is being served. i would go to town on all of that. if i went down south, i probably wouldn’t leave. i love all things southern; the accents, the hospitality, the culture. her granny makes me home made sweet potato pies and we havent’ even met, how rad is that! it’ just something in the way southern people speak that feels like they’re flirting with you, doesn’t it?!

if you don’t know, he was the star of a show called “VANISHING SON” back in the 90′s. my big brother was a sci-fi nerd, also obsessed with martial arts…he never gave me an option when it came to our shared TV.
RUSSELL’s chinese, dutch and french self went on to star in movies like “NEW JACK CITY” and “THE JOY LUCK CLUB” (where he played a super douche but was still too fine to turn down).
***side note: he’s from the TROY, NEW YORK…which is minutes away from ALBANY (my hometown)***
