life: DASH SNOW has a SECRET! (old post 8/12/07)
the other day i was at the gym on the treadmill (which embaressingly faces the street) and mister DASH SNOW passed by with JADE and his baby SECRET…who is not longer a baby, but an adorable perfect tot! he saw me and waved, then proceeded to push the stroller over to the window so i could get a gander at his little girl — she’s gotten so big! i previously posted about him and his fam back in August 2007, check it…
i saw DASH SNOW on the skreets with JADE and their new sweet little baby SECRET. this kid is so teeny and so perfect! congrats to them on their collabo!
the last time i saw him he told me that the polaroid i took of him and KK in our old apartment sold to some gallery (maybe saatchi + saatchi) in london for an obscene amount of money. nice. i didn’t get paid from it, but i did “secure” a piece of his artwork from one of his shows last year. KK helped me swindle it right off the wall on the opening night in front of everyone! even on our way out he stopped to say hey to the gallery owner with it in hand…no one noticed!

BUZZER rings loudly in the background…”BUZZZ”
she runs to the door to answer. she’s excited. “what or who could it be” she thinks. she presses the button on the plastic box beside the door, “hello?”. a friendly female voice replies “fedex for…uh…vash-a-tee?”. the girl giggles at the mispronunciation and buzzes in the fedex employee.
*she has a moment of insanity…

right after that, another buzz at the door and it’s UPS.
my POPS has sent me home-made hot sauce!!! my west indian people might recognize this sight. the random jar (be it mayonaise or an old jam jar) in the fridge filled with a very spicy (yet flavorful) mixture, sometimes with tape on the top. i love it!!!

if i ever find this baby, i may eat him alive. although, i could find him because i know the director RANDY KRALLMAN…who is also the voice of this sweet tike. ok, i won’t eat him alive…but, i may take a bite out of his fat baby legs.

for the new blog readers, 1992 is a 90′s theme party that my best friend OSCAR and i started in 2006 (pre-90′s retro craze). this very illegal block party was the brain child of 1992 and NEAL SANTOS of TEAMWORKS. neal happened to live on the LES block in which it took place, and since every sunday the stores on that block would move their merchandise to the sidewalk — we masked our party as part of the “street sale”.
if you missed it, here’s your recap. the block party was BUTTERS! yes. the illegal block party continued flawlessly! this super depressed super-intendent tried to rain on the parade and called the cops. after the second time the po-po came to visit, we resorted to plan b…which was placing the speakers out of Neal’s apt which ironically faced the street the block party was on. it’s called the art of getting over…make it happen people!

although his time in mainstream music was brief, he had a couple hits circa 1987 that still give me the chills. i remember seeing him on TV and being very confused by the way he looked, like the way PRINCE confused me…they looked pretty like a lady. oh the 80′s were filled with such lovable and androgynous characters (example: see BOY GEORGE).
anyways, he now goes under the name Sananda Maitreya…interesting.
