2010 AND BEYOND…
H A P P Y N E W Y E A R!!!
another year is done with, but even bigger than that – we’ve gotten through a strange decade.
i’ve learned so much about myself in the past 10 years. making a big move to a big new city, not knowing anyone. meeting people and forging new friendships. winning and losing along the way. i am the same girl, but i’m not. change is just inevitable…

i’m wiser…
having made poor decisions and not trusting my instincts, i’ve realized my gut (although not as toned as i want it) – holds a lot of power.
i’m tougher…
i’ve made it through extreme hard times and seen too much to let anything hold me down. words and people can only hurt you if you allow them too. besides, someone else always has it harder than you.
i’m calmer…
as each day passes i get more comfortable with the philosophy of “let it be”. you can’t expect people to do certain things and you can’t expect anything to go as you planned. the beauty in that (once you get used to it) is you feel free. less focused on what things “should be” and more open to what will be…
i’m happier…
in the past year it seems a line was drawn in my life and certain people (who i had a gut feeling about) were unmasked as foes. it only tightened existing friendships and made me more secure with myself. i’m grateful for the people in my life who have been there for me, through thick and thin. even for those who’s presence proved to be negative, i still wish you well. life is too short to be angry, besides – karma is a bitch and everything done in the dark (eventually) comes to light.

behind the scenes: NIKE DESTROYER PROJECT PHOTOSHOOT x KAI REGAN x VASHTIE (12/2009)
on a cold and rainy December day in NEW YORK CITY, a small and eclectic group of people gathered together to take part in a photoshoot for the NIKE DESTROYER PROJECT.
the shoot highlights this group as the “new school” of folks who contribute to the ever-changing landscape of NEW YORK, represented by each of them wearing the special edition black DESTROYER VARSITY (not sold):

(i decided on “NY STATE OF MIND” because it’s so old NEW YORK…gritty, dark and rough around the edges. its the NEW YORK i like to remember).
random: SLOGAN FOR 2010!
i do it ever year, try and find a good tag line for 2010…last year i settled for “TIME TO SHINE IN ’09″. this upcoming year seems to be a bit harder and I NEED YOUR HELP. there’s nothing like a good tagline to help you get to know your new year.
1. MAKING LOTS OF YEN IN 2010…
since the dollar is at its lowest point, it wouldn’t be so bad to make some foreign currency. eff a dollar, give me a pound!
2. BE ZEN IN 2010…
some nice little buddhism never hurt nobody. we can all try and attain enlightenment through some meditation.
3. READ HOWARD ZINN IN 2010…
it just rhymes, but i really do suggest it. reading “A PEOPLES HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES” might make you want to track down your middle school history teacher and backhand her for not teaching you about the nice small pox blankets that the “PILGRIMS” gave the NATIVE AMERICANS – but, some of you who may read it will feel glad you did. you’ll be amazed at all the things most of us do not know about our AMERICAN HISTORY. it will compel you to share your knowledge.
4. GET IT IN – IN 2010…
eh, i guess it could mean anything you want.
5. KNICKS BETTER WIN IN 2010…

introducing…MY NEW RUSSIAN BLUE KITTEN VLADIMIR (aka TOOKIE WILLIAMS aka FRAIDY aka ITTY BITTY KITTY)….
after watching CATS 101 on ANIMAL PLANET (ELLE sent me the text about it) about a month ago, i watched every single episode that broke down each breed. i had no idea there were so many. all i knew was that i always wanted either a BLUE PIT or a BLUE KITTEN. i love animals…but wasn’t really thinking about adopting one.
before i knew it, i went to PETFINDER.COM and found a woman in QUEENS (she happened to be TRINIDADIAN) with a gang of kittens…
we drove to see her and visit her kitties. i fell in love with him at first sight. it was actually funny, all the other bigger kittens (he was the runt) covered him up to hide and protect him.
*he’s a cultured gentleman…
*…but DO NOT get it twisted, he will two piece you in a heartbeat!
it’s been a month now and i wanted to tell you guys earlier, but i wanted to put together an extra special video of him to introduce him to you guys!!! even in the beginning i was still a bit unsure about my choice…i’m a regular taurus and i hate change and completely dislike making commitments…but i totally love him!
ELLE nicknamed him TOOKIE WILLIAMS because he’s BLUE and she thinks he’s a CRIP. SCOTT aka YOUNG SCOOZLE calls him CATTY. i call him FRAIDY CAT because he’s so afraid of things…he’s a regular fit to the crew and i hope you guys like him.

-he’s RUSSIAN (possibly RUSSIAN JEW) and TRINIDADIAN.
-he’s a VIRGO (which means i get along great with him since i’m a TAURUS).
-he was found hustling on the streets of QUEENS, but he claims BROOKLYN.
-he likes to eat paper, watch basketball (KNICKS cat) and sleep all day.
-he currently resides in THE EAST VILLAGE, eats organic and sleeps on egyptian cotton…but is definitely STRAIGHT.
-he’s a fan of RADIOHEAD, DEEE-LITE, and BIGGIE (he’s so eclectic)
-he once sucker punched a tea cup yorkie just because…
