throwback: BLACK EYED PEAS feat. ESTHERO – “Weekend” (dir. BEN MOR)

this was many years ago, for the young bucks who may not know…when this group of beat-making, dancing monsters were known as a trio of dudes…before they added a girl to the group. maybe they had such a big hit with this track that it seemed only right to add a feminine touch – looks like they had great results.

this track features ESTHERO. i stumbled upon her music in the early 90’s when insomnia crept in during junior high. MTV late night and VH1’s “Insomniac Music Theatre” was the bomb because you’d find music normally not shown on prime time – now we have the internet for that, it’s just too easy.

I was just thinking about this yesterday and how much I loved this song. Back when they were being compared to The Fugees… the good old days of the Peas.

I’ll never forget when I discovered Esthero in the winter of 1998/1999. Breath from Another was the culmination of the acid jazz, trip hop, hiphop, and soul music that all mixed together in the 90s.

Did you ever see this performance? – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkE3dgburT0
