“Shortly before we got his third mixtape I WANT YOU, Theophilus London released a DIY promo video for the track “Life Of A Lover”. The record loops lazily to show us a new look: pretty girls dancing with each other at a show, young dudes headnodding, the crush of cameras and hard flash that now follows us everywhere we go, a cut to Theophilus in monochrome riding in a Vespa gang through Chinatown en route to Brooklyn and then back to the dance—a mic cord drifting slowly in and out of the frame and his hand reaching out to bring a girl on stage. That is all and this is it: inspired by Marvin Gaye’s self-imposed European exile and controversial performance of the national anthem at the 1983 NBA All Star game, I WANT YOU is a collection of dark jams that restlessly examines the promise of love beyond lifestyle. Touching on LA electrofunk, UK indie, tropical escapade and obscure afropop you never knew existed, these are stories from the way we live now: missed connections and misunderstandings, video chats and retweets, returns and deliverables. We know today is all black everything but more to the point: this is now noir as we know it. And this is Theophilus London.”

thanks for all your support and birthday wishes. tonight is a celebration for my birth (that sounds so snobby, ha), the people i love and who love and support me. tonight will also celebrate the release of THEOPHILUS LONDON’S monster mixtape! i promise, it is unreal.

i tried my hardest to make it 18 and older, but in club world it gets tricky. i assume in todays day and age, there are “ways around it”. i mean…in my day, i never had that problem because from age 13-20 owned a copy of my sisters ID. although, I DO NOT SUGGEST you risking it.

not that i’m that girl who celebrates her birthday for a whole week, but QTIP just happened to be DJ’ing at BROOKLYN BOWL the day after my birthday and how else should i spend that lazy SATURDAY – but bowling to the genius sounds of my dear friend QTIP! he hooked it up for me, VIP lane and all.
although, we did have a difficult time getting in…we headed back to the city sad and pizza pie ready to stuff our faces and watch TV. QTIP found out that we got played at the door and he made sure when we came back. moments later – we had no issues at the door. my dude!

life: MY BIRTHDAY DINNER AND AFTER-PARTY AT THE ACE HOTEL WITH QTIP (4/23/10)
what a birthday. i’ve hated getting older since i was 15. my then therapist said i was afraid of the responsibilities of becoming an actual adult because i was already living my teen years as an adult…hence, paying for my own therapist, working two jobs while in school (after-school and weekends), and taking care of myself while my mom was working double shifts.
i always choose to bring in my day of birth with friends and a big party to lessen the blow. this year was no exception…dinner at ELIZABETH and the afterparty with QTIP at the ACE HOTEL was just perfect.
i still feel like i’m 15, not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing. anyways, i’m doing a BIG SOIREE the 28th of APRIL, so save the date!

life: 24 HOUR CHAMPAGNE DIET (4/22/10)
on the eve of my birthday ELLE insisted we try the 24 HOUR CHAMPAGNE DIET, something that i thought would be fun to blog about. it turned out ridiculously harder than i thought…my teeth felt like they were rotting from all the sugar and it made me sleepy. not to mention, i think we turned KITTY AKA VLADIMIR into an alcoholic 
*i think the next time we try this diet, it has to be 24 hours of champagne and champagne accoutrements (as ELLE put it)…strawberries and chocolates. note the raw/vegan chocolate – they were amazing!!!
*i put on some old pairs of LOUIS VUITTON pumps to help celebrate…
