random: SUNFLOWER SEEDS (PLAIN OR BBQ) ARE SO GOOD AND SO HOOD

my memories of sunflower seeds stretch back to being a youth in downtown albany. stopping at the bodega on my way to middle school and filling up on quarter waters, Doritoes, BBQ chips, and a pack of Sunflower Seeds. they were probably the most nutritious part of that so called breakfast. it was something we all did. spending the little money we had on empty calories…oh to be young again.

now every time i ride the train and see a pile of spat out seeds on the train floor, i get a nice nostalgic feeling – mixed with a nauseousness due to seeing re-gurgitated food on a public floor (eww).

I have a friend who liked a boy in junior high school. Somehow there was a plan set up to kiss this boy in the staircase (unbeknownst to him) and as she was about to plant one on him he avoided her. She later realized her teeth were full of sunflower seeds! lol The boy then taunted her about it the next day. *sigh* youth

Anywho, I was always partial to ranch.

I used to love to soak them in distilled vinegar…I’d eat it so much that my lips would turn white from all of the salt and vinegar…Of course it all had to be washed down with a PEACH Nehi…

oooh oooh i like the bbq ones so much! i loved licking the leftover bbq seasoning from the bottom of the bag lol…

  • :) Wow. Memories, huh? The small pack of David’s used to cost a dime when I was growing up in Brooklyn. I’d cop that, one of those Marino Italian Ices (that came with the wooden “spoon”), and a couple packs of Now or Laters. I’m in Atlanta now and they don’t believe in corner stores, so you gotta settle for the GIANT bag of seeds, which, let’s face it, it ain’t the same. LOL.

Yup, I once found a worm inside a shell of a David brand bag. Never ate a sunflower seed since even though they’re so good.

    AHH!!

In Kuwait we eat sunflower seeds all the time.. When watching TV.. At the movies.. At the beach.. Anytime, anyplace. They’re SO GOOD! And SO ADDICTIVE!

My dad used to take us on road trips in the States during the summer (over 10 years ago, WOW), and he’d buy packs upon packs of David’s sunflower seeds! He’d eat them while he was driving and I remember we’d laugh at him because the drivers seat/ashtray/passenger area would be COVERED in sunflower seed shells!

Good times :) Thanks for that
