My GUEST EDITING for TARGET has been so surreal. I mean, a brand like TARGET (let alone TARGET), working with little me comes as a super shock. I know I am liked and respected by my peers, but…this is next level. Things like THIS never happen to people like me…or so I thought. I spent most of my life being so anti, partially because after being bullied and excluded I never thought I would be “included”. So, after creating a life and career of being myself…I’m actually liked for it and thus included. Go figure!
Suddenly…I had this sense of a major secret bubbling inside me, an epiphany that I wanted to shout at everyone like the crazy guy that sits on my stoop every now and again during Summer…
I am a kid, born to working class Trinidadian immigrant parents with no fame nor a drop of fortune in my lineage – if I can do this…YOU CAN TOO. Literally.
The dinner hosted by Target was divine. Four Guest Editors were honored that evening at Super Linda in Tribeca – June Ambrose, Harley Viera Newton, Jenne Lombardo and Myself.
