Paris Fashion Week is upon us and it’s no secret that the French have some of the most impeccable and chic style across the board. The street style at Paris Fashion Week is always so incredibly unique and this season is no different. Maybe it’s the elegant accessories and colorful berets or the perfectly paired denim, but something about French style just oozes confidence and effortlessness. Check out these 4 stores in Paris to help you add a bit of “je ne sais quoi” to your wardrobe.
A favorite of our very own Downtown Sweetheart’s, Colette is hands-down one of the coolest concept shops in Paris. Opened in 1997 by founder Colette Rousseaux, the shop has been at the center of fashion for 20 years now. Sarah Andelman, Rousseaux’s daughter, is officially the public face of the concept shop. Dubbed the ‘the trendiest store in the world’ by Forbes, Colette is THE place to go for fashion industry insiders, influencers and even iconic designers. Karl Lagerfeld said that it is the only place he frequents “because they have things no one else has.” If there weren’t enough reasons to pay the shop a visit, the fact that it is set to close at the end of the year is definitely incentive. The announcement of the closing came as a shock to many. Colette is still set to continue with their programming, which includes things like Chanel and Thom Browne takeovers, until December 20th. Make sure to pay a visit to this fashion institution, before they close their doors.
This sprawling second hand store is the most famous vintage shop of Paris, a vintage lover’s absolute dream. In addition to their plethora of vintage clothes, Kiliwatch boasts its own brand, new clothing from urban designers, and an onsite fashion library. A beautifully organized space with contemporary, industrial decor, it is easy to spend quite a bit of time (and money!) digging through the amazing merchandise. Kiliwatch is located in the heart of the hip Rue Montorgueil neighborhood in Paris.
Another fave of our Downtown Sweetheart’s, Pigalle Paris is located in the chic and trendy neighborhood that it is named after. This shop, ideal for fans of sporty and functional streetwear, has some of the coolest menswear in the game. In late June 2017, Pigalle’s Stéphane Ashpool presented a full Pigalle Paris x NikeLab Capsule collection at his Paris show at Paris’ Modern Art Museum. When you check out Pigalle Paris, make sure to visit the beautiful and futuristic Pigalle Basketball Court, designed by Pigalle Paris.
Babel offers an array of clothing from new, independent designers to unique vintage finds. This high-end concept store, which boasts an assortment of second-hand objects, has a wild and quirky interior that matches the wonderful items inside the store. When wandering the store you can find almost anything under the sun: printed t-shirts, soaps, new and second-hand jewelry, leather accessories, and flowery hats. Babel Concept Store has something to offer everyone and is a great place to shop if you’re taking a trip with friends of varying tastes!
