Getting glammed up is a major part of Vashtie’s day to day as a DJ and model. From photo shoots to gigs and appearances her glam squad always pulls up to ensure that her face is beat to perfection. However, when Vashtie gets a night off to hang with bae or her bros she always does her own glam. Her healthy lifestyle doesn’t just apply to her food choices, workouts, meditation practices, and holistic supplements, she also incorporates clean products into her beauty regimen.
What goes onto our skin, goes into our body. Certain products can negatively impact our health if we aren’t aware of the chemicals that are inside of our beauty products. It gets tricky when you just want to pick up a poppin’ red lip from the convenience store for a quick look, and you notice that it contains chemicals that can be harmful. The lack of chemical policy in our country is disheartening, and although products are legally being placed in stores for purchase that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are 100% safe.
When it comes to making healthier lifestyle selections, it is all about mixing and balance. Unfortunately, most of the pigmented colors and products that are used to create some of our favorite bold glam looks cannot be done with health-centric makeup. Vashtie likes to use “clean” beauty products for a simple night out in order to offset the use of makeup that may contain harmful ingredients.
If you don’t know where to start, try purchasing the basic must-haves like a contour palette, foundation, blush, mascara, and a lipstick/gloss. Beware that a lot of products that pose themselves as “organic”, “non-toxic”, “green/eco”, or “natural” are not always clean. Remember to do your own research before purchasing.
