Me in 2007 holding my favorite toy…a Blackberry.
I have been like coo coo for Cocoa Puffs over gadgets for as long as I can remember! Cameras, Cell Phones, Scanners…you name it. If it’s got great design and solid function, best believe I have internet stalked its photos and its reviews.
Trying to stay organized in 2013 is an everyday struggle for me and I can imagine for anyone else out there. You have to juggle social media, emails, texts, phone calls, iCal, notes, work, and then life. It’s no easy task, so I find that  having all the necessary weaponry is a must.
Peep the 2 Blackberry’s when I worked at Def Jam
I’ve had a second phone like for some time now linked to a Blackberry, so that when I do more on the go freelance work – I can send emails like all other Industry Adults (iPhone for fun and Blackberry for work is pretty much the industry standard these days).
Miami Beach 2007
When the Blackberry Q10 released, my friends at The Participation Agency gifted it to me. I couldn’t wait to caress my fingertips along it’s curvaceous buttons! I’m like a toddler, I mean – who doesn’t love to press a button?! The latest Blackberry Q10 quenches all your fun and business needs…although, I’m not sure I can ever part ways with my iPhone, she’s just been too good to me!
This smartphone is everything you want and need in life. I absolutely love it’s functionality and its beautiful design.
Thank You Blackberry!!!
When Jay Swing reached out to have me spin at KillJoy in Vancouver, I was ready. Over the years I had heard such incredible things about Van City; from the Skiing and Snowboarding (although I have never done either despite being an upstate kid), the food, and the incredible natural beauty of the city. The team and I thought, let’s make it a 1992 styled party and voila – it was on. Stephen aka DJ Huggy Bear came with and it was good times.
If you’re slow like the rest of us Americans when it comes to geography, Vancouver, Canada is located close to Seattle and Portland. I haven’t been to either place, but apparently they are extremely similar.
The city is GORGEOUS. I was told it would be, but you just can’t imagine rain forest type mountains surrounding a big city. I was in awe…
As soon as I touched down I had a little meetup with the babes Leslie Bishop and Jen Irving from Aritzia. Aritzia is a women’s wear brand from Vancouver that is slowly taking on world domination. When these ladies arrived they came bearing bags and bags of amazing gifts! I was floored. It was a non-stop gift opening moment that was incredible. It was my first introduction to the awesome brand…and I immediately loved it. It’s on trend and classic, yet well made for immediate or long-term wear.
Huggy Bear was hanging in the telly…
Part of my gift from Aritzia was t-shirts that were printed just for me by Vince Chan and Brooke Wells! I was floored and so happy!

We were invited to the F As In Frank warehouse where we were showered with vintage goodies. If you are ever in the Toronto or Vancouver area check them out! If not, check them out online! They were so kind.
I looked up my friend Eerik Ilves. He is Canadian born, but spent his Junior High/High School years in Albany where I be-friended him through my extreme sporting white-boy friends from Downtown. We all had some great times together. It’s been about 10 years since I’ve seen him and I loved that it felt like not a day had passed by.Here were are standing by our native upstate area code. #518
I took him to eat some vegan/raw food from Gorilla Food, which Jasmine Solano recommended. It was the bomb.
We passed by the Fluevog store, Native to Vancouver.
Saw the poster for the event I was apart of in a nice shop. So cool.
We stopped by to see the peeps at Dipt.Â
Later that evening we passed by the Vancouver Art Gallery for a massive Fuse Party that took up every single level of the Museum. There were performance artists, exhibits, live music. It was a nice Vancouver shindig…
Me, Eerik, Huggy Bear and Bre at Charles Bar
Special thanks to Jay Wallace aka Jay Swing and The Donnelly Group for brining me out the Vancouver. DJ Marvel, DJ Seko, Bre, The Aritzia team for all the goodies, F As In Frank for all my incredible vintage finds, Dipt, Mary Rich, and all the Vancouver folks for showing me MAD LOVE. It was hard to leave you and your GORGEOUS city, but I can’t wait to come back! Next time, I’m taking my buddy Steve Nash’s suggestion of hiking Grouse Grind.
Hey Guys! Hope you’re having a lovely Saturday. I have a last minute invite to all of you in the Manhattan area today…it’s Nike’s Mercer Stickball Classic Game. Some of you may remember that I played in their first stickball game in 2010 (Check HERE for that Blog Post).
Nike Stickball at 21 Mercer (2010)
We also trained at Stickball Blvd in The Bronx, where we learned the history and art of the sport from Bronx legends in the game (Check HERE for that Blog Post). It was an incredible experience and I am stoked to do it all again!
Come by if you are around today and cheer me and my team, The Manhattan Moppers, on…

Last week, I was cordially invited to a lovely dinner in Brooklyn for Target’s collaboration with FEED USA. “FEED USA is a new campaign to improve school food all across America as well as a new brand of FEED products. The charitable company FEED Projects and the non-profit FEED Foundation, have been working together for 3 years to sell good products that FEED the world and improve the global food system.”
Kilo Kish, Guest, Elle Clay & Brandee Brown
The dress code for the evening was RED!
FEED Projects is an organization which was started by Lauren Bush, daughter of Jeb Bush. She gave an incredible speech the night of the dinner about the new FEED USA campaign and it inspired me to go and buy as many products in the pop-up-shop that I could. Each item sold accounts for a certain number of meals that will be supplied to American children and families in need.
Mr. Mickey & Moi!
This cause struck a very personal chord with me. As a kid, I can remember when times got hard on our family. My mother and father worked very hard, but sometimes making ends meet with 3 children was tough and we’d have to go to food banks from time to time. Target debuted a video where Lauren Bush went all over the country and talked to people that the food initiative would directly help, and they were people like my parents…families and people who weren’t asking for a handout, but a helping hand.

LIFE: Nylon’s Annual Music Issue Event x Hosted by Marvin Scott Jarrett x Performance By Avril Lavigne (6.11.13)
Tuesday night, Nylon held their Annual Music Issue Event with an anticipated performance by Avril Lavigne. When I arrived on the scene, the sidewalk was mobbed with people trying to get in. It was an incredible sight to see. Check the re-cap!

Last night, was the Summer Party on The High Line…presented by Coach. It was a spectacular carnival of all the amusing elements of a real carnival…dunk the model boy, whack-a-mole, test your strength and many different contortionist performers peppered in various corners. For successfully playing a carnival game, you were given tokens that you could cash in for luxe Coach goodies! Not to mention – it was an open bar full of delicious Summer cocktails and incredible complimentary quick bites! All of these elements with the added bonus of being on the High Line Park made for a magical evening…
I have to thank Coach for inviting me, but for also putting on a FANTASTIC event (which brought out the likes of Katie Holmes and many more!). Not only was it just super fun, it was also fun for a good cause since 100% of the proceeds went to benefitting the High Line. I love it when one bird is killed with two stones (that sounds harsh, but you know what I mean)!
My hair was blowing crazily since we were right next to the water. It was like I had a personal wind machine permanently blowing in my hair, but I think I worked it. Hahaha.
This hula hooping babe was killing it!
Dunk The Male Model…I like this new edition of Carnival Games. You go Coach!
DJ Kiss and Me! She’s so lovely and incredible on the decks!
Amazing Summer cocktails anyone?
The talented Miss Bevy Smith!
So what. I can do the same move (NOT!).
#CoachCarnival was the best! I had a great time. I couldn’t stay too long since I had a ton of work to do, but I wish I had won some tokens so that I could have cashed them in for some swanky Coach gear…um, have you seen their bags and accessories? Tre Cute!!!
Over this past weekend, my friend of 10 years Pusha-T, had an opening party for his luxe boutique Creme in Virginia. He invited me out and I had to support. It had been almost 6 or 7 years since I had been to the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area and I missed it dearly. I’ve always had a fondness for the area…
Planning just the right outfit!
Pusha-T scooped myself and Loic from the telly and we headed over to the shop. While we were discussing food options, Pusha asked me if I was vegan and I confirmed and then he had jokes on me…”so what you eat, mushrooms?”. Hahahaha.
When we pulled up to the shop, I was blown away. It’s incredible. It’s so beautiful. If you are in the area, you must check it out!
I met some of my supporters from the VA area…
More super sweet supporters. I loved their style!
Loic and Pusha
Later, we snuck out with the ol’ gang for food at Kincaid’s…before the grand opening party.
Loic, T, Stacey, Me, Phillip & Fam-lay
Mike and Beautiful Virginia Williams (sidenote: I LOVE that her name is Virginia)
Emily B. & Me
I always forget that she is a Virginia Beach native! I loved that she was there repping!
Phillip rocking me and Dee & Ricky’s latest collaboration…the Vashtie F*** YOU PIN. Funny, because I never flip the bird.
Mike also rocking the pin. It looks great on boys!
Me, Loic and Stacey…
We stopped into Sassi’s Dessert Bar, where the DJ was going off! We may have gotten late to the party, but the music was still pumping. We had a fun time here…eating cake (not me, nothing was vegan) and a few margaritas (not me, I have a low tolerance), but I did sing and dance to Bobby Brown. See, I’m not a total nerd.
Fam-lay had some good moves!
Loic, Fam-Lay, Me and Phillip
Me and Mike were matching…
Fam-Lay and Pusha-T…just Nate and Terrence from VA.
After, we went to a club called Fuego’s and there was almost a ticket from the cops in our future – but somehow, we wiggled our way out of it. Good job, Loic!
It was a great time! I so missed the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area. It was a fun and nostalgic trip and I can’t wait to go back again.
