throwback: PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA – “LUMP” (Dir. Roman Coppola)

HAPPY PRESIDENTS DAY!!!

(to all the Presidents who played us and to the ones who did their best!)

throwback: TEEDRA MOSES – “BE YOUR GIRL”

throwback: M.E.T.H.O.D. MAN – “MAN”

throwback: MARTIKA – “TOY SOLDIERS” (1988)

I remember my sister blasting this song and catching glimpses of the video on MTV when MTV played actual music videos and not poor programming that encourages minors to have lots and lots of sex and get pregnant (SEE “16 AND PREGNANT” & “SKINS”).

MARTIKA had a very dope pre-90′s style which included frilly lace tops, high waisted denim and hoop earrings. She must have been influential, because I remember being in 6th grade (at my very hood middleschool) and chatting it up with a pregnant 8th grader who told me she was naming her baby “MARTIKA”.

throwback: K7 – “COME BABY COME”

As if the lyrics of the song weren’t suggestive enough, I remember as a kid how freak-nasty this video was. It was still the jam though. I remember it blasting in the Summer and having that feeling of being stoked for no school, public swimming pools and watching TV before 3pm!

Anyways, according to Wikipedia – K7 was an American Latin freestyle group fronted by Louis Sharpe. They released and album in 1993 and had 2 other pop radio hits “Zunga Zeng” and “Hi-De-Ho” (also notably on The Mask film soundtrack).

*I can’t decide which is more inappropriate; this shot or the tattoo on her rear-end.

THROWBACK: SIA – “THE GIRL YOU LOST TO COCAINE”

This song, the lyrics and the video are just HILARIOUS! You must watch it for the giggles and the “WHAT THE…???” I mean, they take it to a whole new level.

SOME OF MY FAVORITE SCREENSHOTS!

*The brilliant finale, just when you thought the video was a whole joke for everyone making it. Look at that sculpture. BRAVO!!!

throwback: NIRVANA – “SAPPY”

made by Krist & Dave in memory of Kurt Cobain.

throwback: GRATEFUL DEAD – “TOUCH OF GREY”

This is dedicated to my little chitlin ELLE CLAY and also to the hippie white girls I went to High School with that put me on to the GRATEFUL DEAD. This video is actually pretty nice, featuring the band as skeletons performing at a huge show.

throwback: LIVING COLOUR – “CULT OF PERSONALITY”

Black Rock at its finest circa 90′s.

throwback: TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS – “DON’T COME AROUND HERE NO MORE”

Ugh, I love this video. For a moment, TOM PETTY was killing the game and had tons of epic music videos for his many hits. He might have been the first to use this ALICE IN WONDERLAND reference. I love the end when they all cut into ALICE and gobble her up! Besides the video, the lyrics are ill…

“DON’T COME AROUND HERE NO MORE…”

You tell her Petty!
