DECEMBER 2011,

Now that I’ve (surprisingly) been able to grow my eyebrows back to it’s natural unibrow status after years of plucking them into oblivion – I wanted to put “cuts” in my eyebrow again. The last time I did it in 2004, my brows were way too thin for it to have an effect.

This time – I waited a whole year to have my dear friend RAUL do it for me, since he’s been living in the Dominican Republic for the past year working on his avante-gard fashion house LUARZEPOL (LUARZEPOL.COM). I had to wait until he came back to visit the City for us to get together and get it done.

Anyways, it was fun catching up with him and having him sort of explain the origin of “cuts in the eyebrow”…although we may never know the exact meaning, it’s still fun. I always found it super cute on boys and just like anything else I like on boys, I have to do it myself.

APRIL 2011,

Every year I have a big birthday bash and send out an open invite to friends, supporters and anyone really who wants to come and have a good time.

The preparation for one of my soirees can be hectic, as I usually like to try and get girlier than normal since I spend my life dressing like a dude.

In the first half of this episode you can see me getting my hair done by GABRIELLE CORNEY courtesy of INDIQUE HAIR SALON in NYC (INDIQUEHAIR.COM). Then I get my dress by DOMINIQUE AUXILLY (DAUXILLY.COM) and my makeup done by TAI LOTSON (NEONMGMT.COM).

In the second have you can catch a glimpse of how I spent the day of my actual birth (APRIL 23RD) with very close friends and my fantastic and amazing god-daughter who was visiting from THE BAY…AMAYA.

It was a great birthday and I’m very lucky to have the amazing friends and supporters that I do bringing love to my life!

My old homie, PUSHA of THE CLIPSE, hooked me up with tickets to his show at TERMINAL 5 in NYC. I was super excited not only to see my friend perform, but also because I am a real fan of their music.

My friend THEOPHILUS LONDON asked me to DJ a BUSHMILLS party where he would be honored for his appearance in their latest campaign. We also celebrated his Pisces Birth with cupcakes and Bushmills Whiskey.

I was invited to film the XXL FRESHMAN SHOW at B.B. KINGS NYC. It was a fun and hectic night, filled with many performances by the cover boys.

ALIFE held an art show at THE HOLE GALLERY in SOHO. Artists like KENNY SCHARF, NECKFACE, CLAYTON PATTERSON and MORE contributed various works to a vending machine where anyone could purchase a “READY MADE” piece of art.

Among the elite list of artists apart of the show was my dear friend OSCAR. In this video you can see JEST (Co-Founder of ALIFE) discussing the concept, OSCAR chatting about his thoughts on the show, MORDECHAI RUBINSTEIN talking fashion and an impromptu interview between JESSE BOYKINS III and myself.

…Just another night in NEW YORK CITY with FRIENDS!

WARNING: it was very loud at the show and I had to speak at unbearable volumes here and there. The sound of my voice can crack glasses.

JANUARY 30TH, 2011

I was invited out to CINCINNATI, OHIO by JAMES from OTR – where I would take over the store with a VIOLETTE POPUP SHOP. Later, I would host an after-party at FB’s alongside owner LOGAN HIUDT.

It was a very short trip, hence the short video – but, I was able to acquire a BENGALS hat, eat like a local and party like a true CINCY NATIVE!!!

This trip was jam packed with fun, food, and absolutely no sleep. My flight there departed at 6am, so I didn’t sleep the night before nor did I get to sleep on the plane. When I arrived I was delirious, but excited to experience OHIO. As soon as we touched down – LOGAN HIUDT picked us up in a fire red GTO and took us to a famous BAGEL SPOT. It was excellent. Then we went to the hotel where I had an hour to chill (I ended up knocking out for two hours). Later I went to the VIOLETTE POPUP SHOP hosted at OTR, got interviewed for CINCY CHIC at LUNAR, had dinner at SUNGS, then hosted the afterparty at FB’s. It was great…

*while we were sitting at our table, a waiter brought over a box that held a 700$ bottle of ACE OF SPADES champagne that he said someone bought for me. I was so shocked and wanted to thank this stranger in person. The owner, LOGAN, later introduced me to him. He turned out to be a very nice Jamaican gentleman who said “I’m just happy to see black people doing positive things and being successful”. Thanks again, it was TOO KIND!
