JANUARY 30TH, 2011
I was invited out to CINCINNATI, OHIO by JAMES from OTR – where I would take over the store with a VIOLETTE POPUP SHOP. Later, I would host an after-party at FB’s alongside owner LOGAN HIUDT.
It was a very short trip, hence the short video – but, I was able to acquire a BENGALS hat, eat like a local and party like a true CINCY NATIVE!!!

This trip was jam packed with fun, food, and absolutely no sleep. My flight there departed at 6am, so I didn’t sleep the night before nor did I get to sleep on the plane. When I arrived I was delirious, but excited to experience OHIO. As soon as we touched down – LOGAN HIUDT picked us up in a fire red GTO and took us to a famous BAGEL SPOT. It was excellent. Then we went to the hotel where I had an hour to chill (I ended up knocking out for two hours). Later I went to the VIOLETTE POPUP SHOP hosted at OTR, got interviewed for CINCY CHIC at LUNAR, had dinner at SUNGS, then hosted the afterparty at FB’s. It was great…

*while we were sitting at our table, a waiter brought over a box that held a 700$ bottle of ACE OF SPADES champagne that he said someone bought for me. I was so shocked and wanted to thank this stranger in person. The owner, LOGAN, later introduced me to him. He turned out to be a very nice Jamaican gentleman who said “I’m just happy to see black people doing positive things and being successful”. Thanks again, it was TOO KIND!

SEPTEMBER 3rd 2010…
on a lazy FRIDAY afternoon, KARL JUSTIN and I iChatted with our god-daughter AMAYA and her mom (our very dear and old friend) LUZ.
AMAYA sings for us and does a brilliant hostage impersonation.
when i was asked to play something for her to sing, i realized how out of touch i was because i don’t own any new pop music – which is why the TORI AMOS joke was made

AUGUST 12th, 2010…
as part of NIKE’s kick off to their first annual NIKE WORLD BASKETBALL FESTIVAL, they cordially invited their friends and colleagues to a special private show that would take place at RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL.
TEAM USA would play a game on stage and later, a surprise performance by JAY-Z (yes!).

after years of sleeping on getting the extension braids i’ve always wanted (that my mother would never let me have as a kid) and the urging of my dear friend RAUL, i finally did it. my friend DANAI EWAN would be the one to transform me!
later…i attend HARDFEST NYC on GOVERNORS ISLAND with THEOPHILUS LONDON. i didn’t stay for the entire show, but i got to see NINJASONIK and RYE RYE perform their asses off!

the finals take place at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN in NEW YORK CITY. UPTEMPO leads the game until the last 8 seconds, at which point HUARACHE ties it up.
during the game, it seemed like we were the ONLY ones cheering for UPTEMPO in an arena filled with HUARACHE fans.
