#BeautyTipTuesday: DIY Skin and Hair Care

Knowing the ingredients in your products is essential – most beauty products are chock full of chemicals , and many of these can cause cancer or illness. With skin and hair care reaching an all time popularity, learning to make your own  products is a great way to save money and to keep unhealthy ingredients away from your body. In addition, making your own beauty products cuts down on packaging, which means less harmful waste goes to landfills. Here are a few great recipes to get you started:

1)Vanilla Latte Exfoliating Bath Bar

Exfoliation is great for the skin, and exfoliating bath bars can cost up to a hefty $25 when bought at a store. Try this 4 ingredient alternative for silky smooth skin and an ‘all-natural’ glow.

2) Oatmeal Honey Face Mask for Dry Skin

This face mask (by Aaliyah Jay) is meant for dry skin, and only uses two ingredients. The moisturizing effect of honey and the soothing effect of oatmeal work  together to create flawless, soft skin.

3) Hair Mask with Honey and Yoghurt

This hair mask will keep your hair soft and strong. While many conditioners and haircare products contain unhealthy preservatives, this recipe contains no harmful ingredients.

4)Moisturizing Lotion

This recipe uses coconut oil and beeswax, and has a longer shelf life than traditional home made lotion recipes. There are also instructions for a substitution using aloe vera, which is great for anyone who wishes to have a lighter moisturizer.
