1. Drake, American Music Awards & Apple Music Commercial

This past Sunday was a big night for Drake. Not only was he up for 13 nominations at this year’s American Music Awards, but he also starred in his first ever Apple Music commercial. The ad shows Drizzy going hard in the gym before busting out his questionable dance moves and singing along to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.”

2. Kanye West Uploads Random Photos To Instagram

Following a crazy weekend that involved an show-ending speech in Sacramento and another cancelled show last night, it appears that Kanye West want us pay attention to the rad new images that have been uploaded to his brand new Instagram. In just two hours, West has posted more than 75 pictures, and though none of them have captions, “Famous” video director Eli Russell Linnetz hints that the images are part of a new Instagram-based installation from the rapper.

3. Late A Tribe Called Quest Member Phife Dawg Gets NYC Street Named In His Honor


Earlier this year, Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest passed away at 45 due to diabetic complications and this past Sunday we celebrated his first birthday  since his death. The hip-hop group has been honoring the late member by releasing their final album, hosting memorials, and organizing the renaming of an NYC street after the Queens native. The intersection of 192nd St. and Linden Boulevard was renamed Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor Way. Rest In Peace Phife Dawg.

4. Childish Gambino’s Continues To Swoon With New “Redbone” Track


Childish Gambino recently released “Redbone,” a new single from his upcoming Awaken, My Love! album. The track is the second single from the album following “Me and Your Mama“. We’re here for it. More please! Look out for the new album set it drop December 2nd via Glassnote. Listen below:

5. Water Cannons and Tear Gas Used at Standing Rock Protests


According to various reports from Twitter users as well as at least one livestream, protests at the Standing Rock Reservation turned violent last night, as police forces employed tear gas and/or mace and water cannons to deter further protest at a blockade point.

One Facebook user, Kevin Gilbertt, is livestream now and reported at approximately 10:15 p.m. EST that tear gas was being fired “indiscriminately” in the crowds of people while airplanes are reportedly flying overhead with their lights off. At one point, people could be heard screaming “medic” in the background. Watch that livestream here.

BONUS: New Rick Ross Album Coming in 2017


Rick Ross tweeted a cryptic #RYTM to start a buzz about what appears to be a new project in the works. The hashtag is an acronym for the Boss’ new album title, Rather You Than Me. The Maybach Music Group’s Twitter account backed up Rozay’s tweet to announce that the new album is set for release in early 2017. The first single is “Buy Back the Block,” which features Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz.
