The three-time Oscar nominated movie, Hidden Figures, is celebrating black history month in a beautiful way. Hidden Figures tells a story few knew before it. The film shares the true story of three amazing African-American women, who played a part in history with their roles at NASA–a primarily white male dominated company at the time.
Fox and AMC Theatres have set free screenings for Feb. 18 in 14 U.S. cities to celebrate Black History Month. The tickets were released on Feb.13th and have already sold out! If you were lucky enough to get a ticket, the screenings will be held in Atlanta, Baltimore, The Bronx, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Oakland, St. Louis, Miami, and Washington, D.C.
Fox and AMC Theatres have also invited schools, community groups, and non-profit organizations to apply for additional screenings to be held in their towns. You can apply here, until Feb. 28th.
Hidden Figures stars Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monáe, and Octavia Spencer who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Pharrell Williams produced and co-composed the film, which was also nominated for Best Picture. If you haven’t seen the film yet, you can check out the trailer below!
