When it comes to great comedic teams, there’s Cheech and Chong, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Vince and Owen, Key and Peele, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly and many more. Then there’s the dynamic duo of Seth Rogen and James Franco–talents who’ve mastered jumping fearlessly into artistic risks.
The Freaks and Geeks alumni have been close since their early and glory days of exposure–thanks to Judd Apatow’s cult classic show–and have delivered comedic projects like Pineapple Express, This Is The End, the controversial hot topic of 2014, The Interview, Sausage Party, and the film which brought in rave reviews at SXSW, The Disaster Artist. So what would the year 2017 be without their promised laughs and pushing of the envelope? The answer? Kinda stale.
Luckily, Franco and Rogen are in early development with NY Times bestselling author and social media personality, Kelly Oxford, to bring a ’90s teen comedy drama to our screens. The two actors will work as executive producers alongside their long time creative partners Vince Jolivette and Evan Goldberg.
Franco and Rogen will serve as executive producers on the project that is in early development, along with Franco’s producing partner Vince Jolivette and Rogen’s longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg. Not much is known about the pending hour long series, but we expect it to possess the same soul Freaks and Geeks harnessed–nostalgia, quirk, realism, and hilarity.
