Spotify x Russell Simmons Team Up For New Web Series ‘Traffic Jams’

Streaming champion Spotify and Russell Simmons may have something on their hands with their new web series, Traffic Jams, they announced earlier this week. Hosted and moderated by All Def Digital’s, DoBoy, is an eight show series that may just prove that all aspects of creating music still requires pure talent these days.

Traffic Jams will include many of our favorite artists and producers in pairs up for the challenge to produce and write a whole new song in LA traffic. In the trailer above, you can see some of the pairings are DRAM and Melo-X, MadeinTYO and ARABMUZIK, and Joey Bada$$ and Cardo. But just making the songs in an ride across LA stuck in traffic wasn’t enough. The twist is the song created has to be memorized to be performed live in front of a live studio audience. Just from the short clips, all of the songs sound sickeningly good.

Traffic Jams is set to air on Spotify- in their Original Videos section- on April 4th in the order of the pairs below. Meanwhile, check out the trailer above!

April 4 – T-Pain & Southside
April 11 – DRAM & MELO-X
April 18 – Joey Bada$$ & Cardo
April 25 – Pell & !LLMIND
May 2 – Jidenna & Sonny Digital
May 9 – MADEINTYO & ARAABMUZIK
May 16 – Dae Dae & Marvel Alexander
May 23 – E-40 & Willie B
