throwback: COMMON – “Testify” (dir. ANTHONY MANDLER)
as i started out as a young director, i was also writing treatments (treatments are the video concepts) for other directors. when i was signed to BOX FRESH PICTURES, i had the chance to study alongside ANTHONY MANDLER…he’s a genius visionary. i learned a lot from just being next to him on set as he directed. not to mention, he’s killing the game right now.
when i was asked to write the concept for COMMON’S “TESTIFY”, i was smitten. i mean, the song is ill. i immediately went to work and was so excited to be apart of a collaborative effort.
you can see in the beginning of the video, the reporter asks…”VIOLETTE, how do you feel about the charges”.

combine VMA week with FASHION week and you have one very tired NEW YORK gal! Friday afternoon, was fun fun fun with all the gifts i received at the GIFTING SUITES (post to come soon) and Saturday i had dinner with OSCAR and attended my director friends at their party DIRECTORS DINNER.

*BAILEY and i met that night. she stopped me as i walked in because we were wearing the same SURFACE TO AIR wedges! very dope. shoutout to SURFACE TO AIR for all their help 
*it was raining and cold that night. KARL JUSTIN helped me style this little number. most of the pieces are from my everyday tired attire…AMERICAN APPAREL hoody, VINTAGE denim vest, GREY ANT lace tank, VINTAGE LEVI’s shorts, SURFACE TO AIR wedges, LOUIS VUITTON suhali bag.
