on SEPTEMBER 11th, 2009…i spent the day hanging with good friends and celebrating life at my FRIDAY night party at SANTOS with QTIP and RICH MEDINA.
that date has been a sore spot in every new yorkers heart and i find it very cathartic to spend time with the people i love in the city that is my true love.
*what did i tell you?! CHAD told me he was in the DJ booth. i walked up there to see for myself and low and behold – he was there…bopping to the beat. Right in front of him was Q TIP. i asked TIP, “you know AL SHARPTON is here?” he said “where?” i said “right behind you bro!” it was so amazing.

earlier that night, we stopped to see MOO MOO the cat and i got to chill with friend/mentor ANTHONY MANDLER at the HOUSE OF HYPE gifting suite. if you don’t know what those are…it’s basically another word for CHRISTMAS and you get mad presents!

friday night was jam packed as usual! the music and the crowd was on point. we had some very special guests…SHAWN MARION (SCOOZLE and ELLE had to let me know who he was), GABRIELLE UNION, THE RZA (i screamed when i saw him) and RAEKWON THE CHEF.

*SABEL and I went to the same yard sale where this girl was selling all her old labels for dumb cheap. she ended up finding these super dope CHANEL combat boots for 10$!!! worn only once! i was so jealous, but they were 2 sizes too small for me anyway. right at the moment, i seriously considered binding my feet.

this past friday night was a bit warmer, thank the lord. it was also a special night since we were celebrating the 2nd installation of OSCAR (and OMARS) 32nd birthday. SADAT X, CRAZY LEGS (ROCK STEADY), MISS INFO, CIPHA SOUNDS and more were in attendance.

after the video, i went home and had rehearsal with the band – you know, “guitar hero”. after that it was straight to SANTOS for the weekly party that is OPEN. it was so cold out, that i made up my mind on what i was wearing quick —– pajamas! seriously. i snuggled into my PEGLEG one-sie and went out to face the cold!

yay! OSCAR and I were given the honor of a one page in the most recent PAPER MAGAZINE. the same magazine we grew up on, drooling over New York City nighlife! needless to say it was an honor to be in the magazine as well as be nominated for BEST NEW PARTY (OPEN) and BEST PARTY (1992).
it was a great night! despite the winning and the losing, we are all winners! here’s how the night went…

every friday night in NYC at SANTOS PARTY HOUSE, it goes down. by “it” i mean, the best thing to happen to new york city (since 1992). finally a place to go on the weekends for locals (and visitors). NO DRESS CODE, NO VIP, NO BOTTLE SERVICE…basically, no wackness.
