A few days ago the VDC team had the pleasure of attending the #CareFreeBlackGirl cookout at Herbert Von King Park in Brooklyn. The day was filled with performances, giveaways, free food, and games. If you didn’t know Care Free Black Girl founder Shaquanna “Quanna” Bolden provides a lifestyle brand that focuses on entrepreneurship, women empowerment, and the arts. The mission of the organization is to host free public events while bringing black women together to highlight them. In a world against minority women, the #carefreeblackgirl cookout seeks out solutions for the issues faced by women of color. So far, this organization has had festivals and cookouts in North Carolina, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and at SXSW. - Various vendors
- Glam Bars (Braids, lashes, makeup)
- Health and Wellness Activities (Yoga, meditation, and aerobics)
