Throw It Back Thursday: Jodeci Live on ‘MTV Jams’ in 1994

When you think of the ’90s, it would be a sin to not think of this sultry crew. Consisting of four uber talented vocalists, Jodeci was a powerhouse, belting out endless R&B classics. Conceived in Charlotte, North Carolina, the quartet included  DeVante Swing, Mr. Dalvin, and of course K-Ci, and JoJo–who later separated from the group to create their own music as a duo.

A little known fact, although he maintained a low key role in the group, DeVante Swing was integral in the growth of a host of iconic’ 90s artists development including Ginuwine, Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, and Timbaland. To date, he is still producing music for major recording artists like Mariah Carey.

Although they came together in the 83′, the crew did not reach their peak until the 90’s. Some of their most popular songs include “Freek’N You,” “Come & Talk to Me,” “Forever My Lady,” & of course, “Feenin’.” As you might have assumed, Jodeci almost strictly made music for the ladies.

As if their timeless hits weren’t enough, they reunited in the last decade to tour and release their most recent album, ‘The Past, The Present, The Future’ which, unlike many reunion albums, was still valid and worth sharing with the next generation of listeners.
