Maintaining ideal health sounds a whole lot easier than it actually is. A lot of the things we put into our bodies actually have no real nutrients to keep us at our best. If you are on a health quest to get your mind and body right you may be trying out a vegan or plant-based diet and hitting the gym. Heres a breakdown of foods that you should be eating before and after any workout or hectic commute.
BEFORE THE WORKOUT
It sounds typical but you would be surprised to find out how many of us are actually dehydrated. Drink water and plenty of it before you do anything active. Don’t rely on juices and sodas to hydrate your body. You will also need a good amount of carbohydrates. If you are going to be using a great amount of energy you need those carbs to burn off.
Eat fruits like apples and bananas, stay away from sugary drinks and candies which have a lot of saturated fats. Instead of juice together fruits, almond milk, greens and avocados before your workout session.

AFTER THE WORKOUT
After a workout, you need protein in order to repair and maintain your muscles. You maybe have heard of using protein shakes which can be meat or plant-based but you can also create your own diet for protein. If you are doing a plant-based lifestyle you can substitute meat with things like lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, spinach, and peanut butter. You can also try wheat, oats, and oatmeal. Try some of these sample meals like quinoa bowls with berries and pecans, Grilled chicken with vegetables, pita and hummus and salmon and sweet potatoes.
