It’s no secret that Korean beauty products are every skincare lover’s ultimate weapon. Between perfecting microfiber sheet masks, developing lightweight moisturizers, eye creams, and even lip plumping masks, K-Beauty is at the forefront of beauty maintenance. That being said, finding and purchasing K-Beauty products in the US can be both time consuming and costly. Here are four Korean beauty brands that are affordable and accessible in New York:
One of my personal favorite brands, Nature Republic, is a South Korean cosmetic brand that began nearly ten years ago. My favorite products are their Aloe Vera Gel, which is ideal for hydration and skin firming. In addition, it’s a great all-healing ointment for skin irritation, such as sun-burn, chafing, or scarring. On top of that, Nature Republic’s Real Nature Mask Sheets are the perfect staple sheet mask. In stores, Nature Republic often has exclusive mask-bundling sales, creating an opportunity to buy 10 microfiber masks, and get another 10 free. There are three Nature Republic stores in New York City, located in Chinatown, Union Square, and Midtown.
A bit more high-end than Nature Republic, Innisfree only has one flagship location in New York, located in Union Square. They are best known for their facial cleansing products, comprised of high-quality ingredients from Jeju Island. Of their top selling products, the Hydrating Cleansing Foam and Daily UV Protection Cream are highly popular, and make for great summer staples. The cleansing foam uses white clay and green tea extract to extract oils and balance combination skin. The sunscreen is water-based and extremely gentle, made with sunflower seed oil and green tea leaf extracts for a soothing effect.
The Face Shop
Located in Chinatown and in Midtown, The Face Shop is a Korean cosmetic brand dedicated to facial care. Their scrubs and exfoliants are affordable and effective, which can help reduce skin discoloration and dryness. The Honey and Brown Sugar scrub helps clear pores and remove the appearance of blackheads, while also evening skin tone. The Jeju Volcanic Lava Pore Scrub is also an excellent purifying scrub, which has a smaller exfoliant grain than the Brown Sugar scrub, for those with more irritable skin.
Available for purchase at Sephora, Belif finds beauty in simplicity. The products are the most expensive in this particular list, but one container of their True Cream moisturizer can last for months, even if you use it twice a day. The True Cream-Aqua Bomb is a gel moisturizing cream that’s extremely light but provides intense hydration–without clogging pores. It’s a great base for makeup or barefaced looks, all through the summer.
