You’re late if you aren’t up on these female rappers

The female empowerment movement is shaping to be the Renaissance we women always knew it could be. Culturally bridging the cap for men to settle into the proverbial saying “anything you can do, women can do better.”

To quote Mother Obama, “the difference between a broken community and a thriving one is the presence of women who are valued.”

So, in the same breath that I exhale the name of the honorable Michelle, allow me to introduce these female rappers who are on the molding 2018 into their year (and upholding the truth that women ain’t nothing to fuck with:

~ DreamDoll ~

Bad Girls Club and Love & Hip Hop: New York fans may recognize this reality star turned famed rapper. DreamDoll delivers all except fear when turning any outside criticism into lyrical bars. Get familiar.

~ Rico Nasty ~

The DMV’s next generation of rappers are making that leap from their respected area to a bigger audience, and Rico Nasty is certainly among them. We all heard Issa sample Rico’s Poppin on last season of Insecure — and now, with a solid fanbase and an handful of records, Rick Nasty is ready to pop out.

~ Stefflon Don ~

More and more U.K. based rappers are beginning to emerge into the mainstream rap culture, and rightfully so. Armed with her lyrical wit, aggression and star quality, Stefflon is speeding ahead at 100 mph — nowhere near her peak. Her rap style has frequently been compared to Nicki Minaj, but it’s clear that Stefflon Don is her own woman.

~ Kodie Shane ~

Based out of Atlanta, Kodie broke into the scene back in 2016 as a member of Lil Yachty’s Sailing Team. The only female member. Her energetic and infectious songs continue to expand her popularity and fanbase. Kodie has gone onto the record predicting her own evolution, and her outlook is meant to set an empowering example to all young people who will listen.
