It has been announced that Dave Chappelle has been snatched up by Saturday Night Live, just in time for the US election. Chappelle will join the team at SNL for the very first time on the post-election show on November 12. With the election taking place on Tuesday (November 8), Chappelle’s debut will be one of the most important shows of the year, and the first chance the SNL stars will get to rip into the country’s new commander in chief.
Appearing on one of the biggest SNL shows of the year is a big move for Chappelle, who left his hugely popular Comedy Central hit Chappelle’s Show back in 2005. Not to mention this is great for his fans who have been awaiting his return to television sketch comedy.
Chappelle will be joined by A Tribe Called Quest, who will provide the musical entertainment for the evening as they anticipate the launch of their first studio album in 18 years: We Got It From Here … Thank You 4 Your Service. The iconic group lost member Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor earlier this year after complications relating to diabetes. I know I will be glued to the television for this SNL episode for sure! Sounds like a perfect addition to the show as we say goodbye to Obama.
