After releasing a controversial commercial in the Middle East, Nike has announced they will be releasing, the Nike Pro Hijab, made for Muslim women whom, up until now, have worn traditional hijabs while working out or playing sports.
The hijab is made of a lightweight, polyester so it can still be breathable while serving its purpose as a headscarf. It will come in black and other neutral colors, and will be releasing in spring 2018.
The hijab was tested on athletes and women who actually wear one every day. Many have given the hijab their seal of approval. Zahra Lari, the first Emirati figure skater, is already wearing one!
Lari told CNN, “I’ve tried so many different hijabs for performance, and … so few of them actually work for me. But once I put it on and took it for a spin on the ice, I was blown away by the fit and the light weight.”
Nike is pushing the envelope in hopes of empowering women everywhere. If you haven’t seen their amazing commercial yet, check it out below!
