We’re not sure how you celebrated the iconic Yo! MTV Raps’ 30 year anniversary yesterday, but we spent it binge watching our favorite clips. Let’s face it, Yo! was iconic. This was MTV’s first show to effortlessly give us the hip hop we needed, broadcasted to every household, showing the true culture of hip hop. Not only did Yo! produce a mix of in studio performances, interviews with our favorite rappers and show our favorite music videos, it gave us the laugh we needed on Fridays with a bit of comedy.
Here are a few of our favorite moments celebrating Yo! MTV Raps:
Mary J. Blige with Grand Puba – What’s The 411?
This on set performance had us on our feet, rapping along as if we had a feature.
(Part 2) The Last freestyle feat Redman, Method Man, Extra P, Special Ed, Craig Mack
Yeah, ok seriously pass us the mic.
This was the beginning of time. We’re not sure what we did before the very first episode of Yo! The first episode was hosted by RUN-DMC.
