Woman Crushin’ It Wednesday: Serena Williams

Serena Williams has been our crush on and off the court since the late 90s. This Compton gem not only is one of the best athletes of all time but she’s a fashion designer, an Olympian, and is all about motivating other women. Williams became No.1 for the first time on July 8, 2002, won women’s doubles title three times with her sister Venus Williams in 2012, and ranked No.1 for the seventh time  literally a week ago. Not only do her many accomplishments make her great but the fact that she can effortlessly twerk in Beyoncé’s Lemonade film and still look classy, and shut any hater down with stats. Williams is also the only player to have ever won 10 Grand Slam titles.  We love Serena Williams because she’s herself, fierce with every move, a she embodies confidence. Serena is more than just one of the best athletes of all time but she’s a woman who’s an inspiration for all.  Here are 1 inspirational quotes by our woman crush:

“It’s me, and I love me. I learned to love me. I’ve been like this my whole life, and I embrace me. I love how I look. I love that I’m a full woman and I’m strong and I’m powerful and I’m beautiful at the same time. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

“I think I’ve always been a fighter and I’ve always fought through things my whole life.”

“Am I the greatest? I don’t know. I’m the greatest that I can be”

“You can be whatever size you are, and you can be beautiful both inside and out. We’re always told what’s beautiful and what’s not, and that’s not right.”

“You should work on yourself until the day you die.”

“If you can keep playing tennis when somebody is shooting a gun down the street, that’s concentration.”

“I’m really exciting. I smile a lot, I win a lot, and I’m really sexy.”

“You have to believe in yourself when no one else does.”
“It’s important to touch on the body image issues. I’m interested in doing the best than I can and winning grand slams and being a champion and, you know, everyone has different goals … I’m not out there thinking, OK, I’m not going to go to gymnastics class today because I don’t want to look fit. I literally was born with this most amazing body, and to be historic, and to amazing, and to be badass. And if anyone doesn’t like it, then they don’t have to. Because at the end of the day, I like it. And I know a lot of other people who like it too.”
“The success of every woman should be the inspiration to another. We should raise each other up. Make sure you’re very courageous: be strong, be extremely kind, and above all be humble.”
