#BeautyTipTuesday: How to Clean Your Gold Jewelry at home

We all like nice and shiny things right? Let’s keep them that way.

There’s no better feeling than purchasing a brand new gold chain and watching it glimmer in the sunlight. It makes a statement. After a long while of flexing and showing off, your pieces can begin to lose it’s shine. Gold easily attracts dirt, grime and oils from daily wear that will dull the appearance of your accessories. Of course you can buy jewelry cleaner, but it can be full of harmful chemicals that can irritate your skin. Instead, try apple cider vinegar. We’ve talked about it numerous times on the site, mainly because it’s just that good. So here’s an easy way to clean up your gold pieces so you can continue to flex.

Step 1

Grab a glass bowl and measure our 1 cup of ACV. Place your pieces in the bowl, making sure they are submerged and allow it to sit for about 20 minutes.

Step 2

From there, you can either rinse each piece off in cold water and dab dry, or you can create a paste by adding 1/4 cup of flour, 1/4 tbsp. of salt and half of the ACV you just used.

Step 3

Grab an old toothbrush and gently scrub the paste on your pieces removing any deeply embedded grime or oils. Then rinse with cool water and pat dry. Now, you’re ready to flex.
