Despite lacking a new director to replace Tim Miller–the franchise’s first director–Fox will allegedly begin filming the sequel to Deadpool in January. Production is rumored to set in Vancouver.
While Ryan Reynolds has long been confirmed to return as “The Merc With Only A Mouth”, the film lacks the casting of supposed future characters, Domino and Cable. Back in August, it was reported that Tim Miller wished for Kyle Chandler to take the role of Cable. But Ryan Reynolds disagreed and the powerhouse studio took the side of their star, which prompted Miller to leave the project.
Per sources close to the project, Miller didn’t plan for production to start until March 2018. So take the speculated shooting news with a grain of salt. With no director, full cast and approved script, Deadpool 2 may not have the sets and costumes ready for the camera by January. Especially since the initial plan was to shoot in March anyway. However, the search for the perfect director is well under way–with John Wick’s David Leitch in the running. Only time will tell where Deadpool 2‘s story will be going, as well as its production date.
Deadpool 2 is set to grace U.S. screens on January 12, 2018. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick–the scribes of the first movie–will return to create the screenplay for the sequel.
