In what is becoming an epic series towards the debut of his third studio album, Kendrick Lamar is proving he has yet to reach his zenith, he’s just getting started. Hot on the fired heels of his latest song, “The Heart Part 4,” K. Dot did the unexpected and dropped not only a new single titled “HUMBLE.,” but also a video to coincide with its vibe.
Produced by Mike WiLL-Made It, Kendrick bursts through with a line of throwback nostalgia which leads into word play. The video–directed by legend Dave Meyers and the Little Homies–delivers along the punch of the song–switching from one captivating shot to another. At one moment Kendrick is chillin’ atop a heap of cash, the next, he’s swinging golf balls off a scraper parked in the L.A. river, then sitting back with his crew in a scene likened to The Last Supper. The cinematic treasures don’t stop, they up the ante with each ticking second.
With this powerful re-emergence into the landscape of music, we can only speculate what else Kendrick will come with. So far, we’re scarfing down each serving, heavily anticipating the next–which may arrive with his new album on April 7th, according to his lyrics in “The Heart Part 4.”
