Meet Farris, the graphic designer changing the Industry

For musicians, the music isn’t the only thing important to the art when it comes to the composition of an album. The backstory and inspiration all come together to create the full package. Because of this it is important that the musician finds a graphic designer that is able to grasp the idea and concept behind the album. For Lil Uzi Vert and others new in the game, this person happens to be an artist by the name of Farris.

Originally based in St. Louis, the 21-year-old graphic design student is providing rappers with a visual expression of their music through thematic elements. His path to album artwork design has been a short one but one for the books nonetheless. He began playing with Photoshop in high school which lead to his new passion.

He started his career through a simple twitter direct message. He heard the tape Luv is Rage and sent some fan art in which led to the job opening for the cover art of Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World. Since then he has been able to create cover art for The Perfect LUV Tape, Savage Mode and 1017 vs. The World.

Each cover that Farris produces is unique to the artist’s taste, thoughts, and imagination as he works closely with the client to get a better idea of what the music is trying to represent. Savage Mode by 21 Savage, appeals to the dark, violent lyrics of 21 Savage while also appealing to the classic and contemporary production styles that Metro Boomin’ has created.

On the other hand, Farris is able to capture the lighter side of hip hop through working with artists such as Lil Uzi Vert. The idea behind the Lil Uzi Vert Vs. The World cover came from the movie Scott Pilgrim vs The World. We get a whimsical picture of Uzi staying focused on his beloved Brittany through all of turmoil from the outside world coming into their relationship. The whole album embodied this exact idea.

Throughout his short career, Farris has created some of the most thought out and brilliant cover art that expresses each client he works with to the tea. Only more can come from the graphic designer as he progresses in the industry.
