After dropping his sophomore album In The Comfort Of in March, Sango is by no means slowing down on his production rate. The Seattle producer has proven to be one of the most experimental figures currently in music, thriving on his unique mash-up efforts. He has remixed hit singles by everyone from Goldlink to Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott.
Although some could be disappointed by the lack of the hilarious “Woopdity scoop, scoopity woop, woop-de scoop-de-poop” lyrics, Sango does an astounding job at bringing new life to Kanye’s track. The remix goes by the name “Lift Me Uptown (Sango Bounced It)”. His version will likely be preferred by people who have heard both songs, as it is arguably more listenable than the original. This particular mash-up contains Kanye West’s sample of the 1973 song “Liberty” by Amnesty mixed with a classic New Orleans bounce beat and some aggro lyrics to top it off. Kanye’s “Lift Yourself” contains sped up vocals (a technique that was his early signature as a producer) to sound more like an all-female ensemble instead of the eight-man-strong group. Although the remix is just shy of two minutes, it possesses such a high energy vibe that will have you clicking the play button again and again.
Take a listen to Sango’s remix below and let us know which version of “Lift Yourself” you prefer listening to! While you decide, also check out the original 70’s tune which Kanye used to create the song. One thing I think we can all agree on is that creativity is definitely a strong component in both of these versions!
