Spotify is Funding Female Podcasters of Color

It’s good to be Spotify. First, their IPO was announced at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday with an opening price of $165.90. Second, Spotify’s Sound Up Bootcamp application is now open until April 10th. This weeklong training program, led by Rekha Murthy and Graham Griffith, was created to increase the amount of female podcasters of color. Ten selected attendees will have the opportunity to learn the art of podcast creation in New York City. But only the top three pitches will have their podcast pilots funded.

There are a ton of podcasts by women of color, like Another Round, 2 Dope Queens (now on HBO) and Still Processing. And Spotify wants to keep it that way. When there is diversity in voices, it leads to a diversity of opinions and representation. If you are interested, apply here.
