In celebration of Jam Master Jay’s legacy and birthday, his son, TJ Mizell and turntable assassin, Skratch Bastid, teamed up as a duo for an epic tribute to the legendary pioneer. In the three-minute tribute, you’ll see both DJs side-by-side, spinning and mixing back and forth, flexing their best scratches over Jam Master Jay and Run DMC best hits in the golden age of hip-hop, such as “King of Rock” and “Jam-Master Jay.” In the background, you’ll see footage from vintage footage from Run DMC shows and the crowd going crazy. You’ll also see some friends of the DJs bouncing around jamming to the iconic saga.
The tribute was released via DopeRoots, which is a multi purposed music label that was founded by the next generation of the Jam Master Jay, TJ and Jesse Mizell. It’s so dope to see that his legendary impact still lives on through his sons and other DJs as well.
