Skincare is important year-round, but summer gives us a few more things to be concerned about. During the warmer months, it’s important to keep your skin moisturized as well as protected from the sun in order to prevent sun damage and pre-mature aging. Thankfully, there’s tons of DIY and ready-made options to choose from.
When the temperatures rise you want to keep it very light. Evian created a mineral water spray that hydrates and tones the skin. Of course, you can make your own refreshing water-based spray with rose, cucumber, or lavender-infused water. These are multi-purpose sprays that can be used alone, under make up, or as a setting spray.
Oily skin is inevitable during the summer, but your skin care doesn’t have to enable it! Try a gel moisturizer if you have trouble with oil. Keihl’s uses naturally-derived ingredients, but if you want to go all the way, aloe vera gel does the trick.
Ideally your skin care will be lightweight, keep you oil-free, and have some SPF. Dermalogica’s Clear Start moisturizer does just that! Not only does it prevent oil from coming back, but it also clears any oil on your face pre-application. Almond oil, coconut oil, zinc and shea butter provide a decent amount of spf alone, but when put together and with some geranium oil, which helps with oil production, it’ll create a bomb moisturizer that controls oil and protects from the sun.
