Each year, contemporary brand, alice + olivia, a beloved favorite among Hollywood elite, collaborate with artists to create a modern yet timeless capsule collection. Half of all proceeds will benefit the CFDA Initiative program, whose mission is to spotlight budding talent in the realm of fashion.
Domingo Zapata was the muse of their previous collection. The Spanish-American painter used ball gowns and bustiers as his canvas, which assisted in a successful auction with Paddle8 for CFDA’s program. With the beautiful outcome of last year, it’s no wonder alice + olivia tapped the legendary and late neo-expressionist/graffiti artist, Jean Michel Basquiat, as their newest collaborator.
Using iconic artwork, “Beat Bop” (1983), “Replicas” (1983), “Ascent” (1983), “In Italian” (1983), “Panel of Experts” (1982) and “Notary” (1983), the line features a pop culture motif on classic staples. Stacey Bendet, CEO and Creative Director of CFDA said this about the collection,
“Jean-Michel Basquiat is one of my favorite artists. This partnership is exciting for me as it is very reflective of my brand and our continued collaboration with artists. It is also wonderful to be able to raise funds for the CFDA and support their ongoing initiatives within our industry that develop new talent.”
Take a look at the beautiful photos of the line below. The merge of both Basquiat’s world and alice + olivia’s style collide in an authentic flavor. Some of my favorites happen to be the the crowned leather jacket, skirts and cardigans, espadrille woven creepers… make that everything! I’m sure you’ll feel the same once the line hits stores in November 2016.
