Today is the 28th birthday of Harlem’s own A$AP Rocky and the world is at his feet. Rocky made a grand entrance onto the rap scene with his critically-acclaimed mixtape, LiveLoveA$AP and since then has been a force to watch. Not only have we seen his music grow and evolve but his fashion style has influenced not only New York City but his rap contemporaries and more recently the high fashion world. Rocky was was named the face of Dior Homme in June with the brand’s creative director sharing his admiration for the young rockstar:
“I really like his personal style and taste. He’s a real fashion lover. He feels like fashion really influences his own work, and he has strong opinions on that.”
Dior were not the only folks keeping tabs on the young trendsetter as he was appointed the creative director for MTVLabs, a Viacom in-house creative agency that is collaborating with his own creative company, AWGE, to create innovate and disruptive content for their channel. Rocky and the A$AP Mob are looking to roll out their compilation project, Cozy Tapes Vol. 1, on MTVLabs recently performing their lead single from the project, “Crazy Brazy“, featuring A$AP Twelvyy and Atlanta rapper Key! at the MTV studios. We can’t wait to see what Rocky and the crew do with this platform.
With all of his recent accomplishments and upcoming work somehow A$AP Rocky still manages to be the prettiest and jiggiest of all. Check out a few of our favorite style moments from Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye III.
Rocky attended the 58th Grammy Awards with a special guest, the mother of his friend and A$AP Mob guru, A$AP Yams who passed shortly before the release of his second studio album, A.L.L.A. The rapper wore a Gucci knit cardigan and embroidered jeans paired with Stan Smiths from the Adidas x Raf Simons collaboration. The pièce de résistance?….the Goyard Messenger bag which we’re sure Yams would have approved of.
Rocky was tapped to add his own flair to the Guess Originals collection released in early 2016 bringing the focus back to the simple silhouettes such as the black skinny jean and classic striped tee. Rocky continues to take risk and add his own flair to the classics.
Rocky has nailed the off duty male model look again and again adding his street flair to the streamlined look. The rapper paired a simple white collared shirt with black distressed jeans and a Hermés belt to complete the look. The leather coat is well-fitted and flattering of course….we would expect nothing less.
We had to add this look because Rocky’s coat game is unmatched. The rapper is sporting the FW16 JW Anderson pink shearling coat with the SS17 plaid shirt in support for the brand which he collaborated with early in 2016, for the “JWA AWGE” collection.
Happy Birthday Rocky!
