Virgil is at it again and this time around he’s dropping a futuristic collection of clothing and accessories for his Louis Vuitton 2054 line. The collection is all about garments for the fashionable nomad of the future, or more specifically the year 2054. Think high functioning urban wear for a new kind of urban environment. As artistic director of menswear at LV Virgil is consistently pushing the envelope and blurring the lines between high fashion luxury and streetwear, and this collection is no different. Details like embossed quilted logos, shiny holographic accents, and iridescent tie-dye align with the brand’s youth-based culture, keeping them in tune and desirable shoppers.
The collection is described as a performance-inspired tech line with each piece made with the wearers “trek” in mind. It includes 14 water-repellent pieces but the true stars of this collection are the accessories, many of which are made to be 2 items in 1. For example, the safety-goggle looking sunglasses with removable lenses, or the bucket hat that folds up in itself. The accessories included in this line are smartly designed with the hypermodern aesthetic we have come to know Virgil for. A standout bag that has been making waves since the pre-launch this month is an oversized keep all duffel bag that rolls out to a full-size sleeping bag. The duffel, fittingly named the “Sleepall” bears the brand’s signature monogram in a holographic print. There is also a free-flowing drawstring parka that doubles as a backpack and leather utility backpack complete with cargo style pockets and rainbow tie-dye LV logo.
With this collection Virgil has dreamed up the active wardrobe of a dystopian rebel that is oh so cool while maintaining its wearability. There is no doubt about the street appeal of the 2054 collection and it’s sure to be seen on industry types and street stars upon full release coming in December. For now, check out a few of our favorite pieces from the collection.
