Doin’ It Well: DIY Winter Body Butter

Winter wasted no time this year making it’s presence known. The harsh and chill winds are calling for us all to bundle up and most importantly, to protect our skin. Many may not know but winter is when our skin needs our attention most! It’s essential to stay moisturized during these low temperatures in order to maintain smooth, healthy skin. Submitting to store-bought products just isn’t good for our skin, it contains toxic ingredients that can actually lead to drying your skin. It’s best to consider curating what we want to go on your skin just by making it ourselves with natural kitchen ingredients. Creating our own body butter is the best way to combat the winter with the benefits of giving your skin the nourishment it was purposed to have and curing any ailments that may flare up due to dry skin. This recipe can be put together in 5 minutes tops without any fight or fuss:

Ingredients:

1 ¼ cup of Shea Butter

1 ¼ cup of Aloe Butter

2 tablespoons of Vitamin E Oil

2 tablespoons of Jojoba Oil

1 teaspoon of Neem Oil

20 drops of Vanilla Essential Oil (for a warm scent, of course you can change to your preference)

2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon (for texture)

Recipe:

Blend all of the ingredients together either manually or in a Ninja Blender. If you wish for a thicker texture, add more butter and if you would like a thinner texture, add a bit more oil. Then store it all in a glass container, preferably an 8oz mason jar and voilá! It’s as simple as that!
