Pump Up The Beet (Juice): 5 Popular Juice Recipes To Try Out

Juicing is a dietary process that extracts juice from fruits and vegetables of your choice. Between Juice Press, Jamba Juice and other organic vegan-supported juice bars, vegetable juices like cucumber and beet-root juice are packed with the magnesium, fiber and calcium needed to keep you hydrated, energized and regulated.

Last week, Boss lady Vashtie started a 21 day juicing cleanse inspired by the teachings of Anthony Williams, the Medical Medium. Once the 21 day cleanse is completed, Vashtie will let us know if she notices any of the health benefits it is said to have. Now maybe you’re a beginner at juicing, and although celery juice is extremely healthy and filled with protein and iron, the taste may leave a lot to be desired. But luckily enough, there are many other alternatives of juices that you can try that offers the same (if not more) health benefits as celery juice can.


Watermelon Juice:

Watermelon juice is perfect for hot summery days in the city, on a sandy beach catching rays, or even a post-workout beverage, because it is made up of over 90% water. The antioxidants found in watermelons can decrease chances of high blood pressure, cancer and heart disease. The fruit cocktail also offers relief of inflammation and reduces muscle soreness because of an a-amino acid, called Citrulline.

Watermelons are also great for flushing out the bladder in addition to helping the excretion of waste material. When you juice the fruit along with the rind (the whitish-green) part, you are receiving a healthy dose of Chlorophyll, a plant pigment that holds a lot of benefits, including liver detoxification, relieving fibromyalgia and hormonal balancing.

Grapefruit Juice:

Grapefruit has a very acquired taste, some people can’t get enough of it and some can have too much of it. It is a low calorie fruit that will give you a huge serving of both vitamins A and C. Grapefruit is very popular in different weight loss programs, because it reduces the feeling of hunger. While preventing constipation, Grapefruit contains both water and fiber that promotes regularity. Quinine is also found in Grapefruit, an alkaloid that has a history of treating malaria, lupus and arthritis. Grapefruit also contains pectin, a naturally occurring substance that helps lower your cholesterol. Pectin comes from the seeds and the white pith of the fruit. So not only can you drink the juice, but you can eat the fruit whole too.

Cucumber Juice:

Cucumber juice, like Celery juice can be a little difficult to stick with in the beginning, especially if you are new to juicing. But according to the US Department of Agriculture, women need at least 2.5 cups of vegetables a day, while men need 3 cups. By drinking a cup of cucumber juice 3x a day, you can reach your daily intake in no time! Cucumber juice contains copper, which helps produce red blood cells, strengthens your connectivity tissues and boosts your immune system. Cucumbers are made up of 90% of water, which will ideally keep you hydrated and flushed out any toxins you have in your body. Also, if you go out and have a couple of drinks the night before and wake up with a mean hangover, this natural green drink is also a great alternative to cure hangovers and headaches. And due to the magnesium, fiber and potassium that cucumber juice is packed with, you will also help regulate your blood pressure.

Beet-root Juice:

Most people probably don’t eat beets on a regular basis (or ever), but when you see the benefits that juicing beets offers, you may change your mind. Beetroot is rich with Vitamin B6, Betaine and several other important vitamins, minerals and dietary fibers, that can help with anemia, menstrual disorders and symptoms of menopause. Beetroot juice is also recommended as a pre-and-post workout drink. Studies shows that by drinking the concoction, you increase not only plasma nitrate levels, but boost physical performance.  If you are looking for a great natural anti-aging remedy to try, drinking Beetroot juice is considerably the best way to go. The bulbous plant contains a generous amount of folate, a folic acid that helps against wrinkles and other skin care issues. Pomegranate is an amazing source of vitamin A,C and E and minerals such as Potassium, Iron, Folates and Riboflavin. Known for reducing symptoms of Atherosclerosis, the leading cause of heart disease, pomegranate lowers the risk of artery blockage and continues an even flow of blood to the brain and heart. By adding a daily intake of pomegranate juice to your dietary regimen, you are producing more collagen and elastin to your skin.
