Chakras are energy centers that affect different parts of who you are: your emotional state, how you view life, and your overall health. If you recently went through a big change in your life and are experiencing some side effects, it’s possible that your chakras are out of balance. No need to worry though, there are some simple ways to get your chakras back in line! Each chakra will require something different, but the method is all the same.
There are seven different chakras, all of which have a different color and area of the body they represent. The first chakra is the root chakra, located at the base of the tailbone. The root chakra is red and represents our foundation as well as our sense of feeling grounded.
Next is the orange sacral chakra in the lower abdomen which affects our ability to connect with others, experience new things, and sensuality.
The yellow solar plexus chakra, located in the upper abdomen, affects our confidence and feelings of control over our lives. Our ability to give and receive love is controlled by the green heart chakra at the center of the chest.
Represented by a light blue, the throat chakra is the center for communication and self-expression. Between the eyes is the third eye chakra.
It’s blue color is the perfect identifier, as it deals with your psyche — intuition, imagination and wisdom can be found here.
And lastly, the purple crown chakra, located at the top of the head, controls your inner/outer beauty and your connection to spirituality.
Crystal healing is a very popular way to balance your chakras. You can buy any crystal that is the color of the faulty chakra(s) to help you balance it. Some metaphysical shops and websites sell them in sets to make things easier.
Aromatherapy is the practice of using natural plant oils to improve well-being. Aromatherapy can be used in conjunction with massage therapy to heal the chakras. For example, a foot massage with the appropriate oils can either activate or calm the root chakra. Massaging oils into your neck and chest will affect your throat and heart chakras.
If you’re down to get physical, yoga is a fantastic way to align your chakras. Additionally, if you are physically unbalanced yoga can help with that, too. By just using the breath, called pranayama, you can clean and clear your chakras. Childs pose will help with the root and third eye chakra; it keeps you grounded to the floor and activates the third eye due to the pressure on the forehead during the pose.
Heart openers, like back bends, will help to open the heart chakra. For the crown chakra you’ll need to get upside down with headstand variations, but you can get away with doing corpse pose if you’re not as daring.
