5 New Highly Anticipated Rap/R&B Albums Expected To Be Released This Fall

As we approach the final stretch of 2017, a lot of albums flooded both the airwaves and the billboard charts. From Jay-Z’s “4:44” to Kendrick’s DAMN, It’s been a great year in music. From R&B to Rap and everything in between, the battle for the number slot has fallen into many hands during the summer.

Earlier this year, Drake became the first artist to remain on Billboard’s HOT 100 chart for eight uninterrupted years. Unfortunately, his 431- weeks long streak came to an end, one fateful day in August. However, with new albums comes new shots at the title for number one on the charts. From Cardi B to Kanye West and Kid Cudi, here are 5 new Rap/R&B albums to watch out for:



Inducted into XXL’s 2017 Freshman Class this past June, Kamaiyah already has proven she has a lot to offer. She released her debut mixtape, “A Good Night In The Ghetto” in 2015 with great reviews from Pitchfork and NPR. Featured on YG’s “Why You Always Hating?”, alongside Drake, the Oakland rapper is ready to claim her spot in the industry. Kamaiyah has named the late Aaliyah, TLC, and Missy Elliot that inspires her and her music. Although, we don’t have an exact date for the release of her debut LP, her pinned tweet on twitter reads; “#comingsoon.”



Kelela Mizanekristos, a singer and songwriter, praised by the likes of both Solange Knowles and Björk, hails from Washington, “D.C.” Kelela released her first debut mixtape, “Cut 4 Me“, in 2013, a hybrid of house, electro, R&B, Techno and more. Two years later, Kelela released her first EP, “Hallucinogen”, an album that covers the beginning, middle, and end of a relationship in reverse chronological order. The singer announced her plans to release her debut LP “Take me apart“, in July. The album is available for pre-order and is scheduled to be released on October 6.

Cardi B:

It’s been a long time coming for Cardi B, who released her second mixtape Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 2 in January of this year.  It was the following month, that the Bronx rapper signed her first major label deal with Atlantic records. In June, Cardi B released her first single under Atlantic, “Bodak Yellow“, a song inspired by Forida-based Kodak Black and his 2014’s “No Flockin”. The hit single reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, coined as the “Rap Anthem of the summer” by the New York Times. This month during her set at the Made in America festival in New York, Cardi B announced her full debut LP is dropping in October. Pictures of the rapper with both Beyonce and her mother, Mrs. Tina Lawson during the festival, can only prove her star is definitely on the rise.



After many years of speculation on a new album from Eminem, it appears as though we may be getting one real soon. According to a reports online, sources says that Marshall’s ninth LP will be release this fall. Last year, Eminem teased his fans last year by sharing his track, “Campaign Speech” on twitter. He also tweeted , “Don’t worry I’m working on an album! Here’s something meanwhile.” While no other songs follows the tweet, this year Rapper 2 Chainz hints at involvement on the project during an interview on Shady 45. Eminem will also be a producer on the upcoming film, Bodied. A battler rap comedy featuring battle rappers, Loaded Lux, Disaster and more.


Kanye West and Kid Cudi:

After being seen together on several occasions after their short fueled war of words last year, it’s being reported the two are working on a project. After spending time in both China and Japan this summer, Producer Coodie Rock shared a picture of the two. The photo of himself, Cudi, Kanye and Visual Artist, Takashi Murakami read, “Coming Dec 31st! #Everybodywins”. Both Kanye and Kid Cudi released their respectively seventh and sixth studio albums last year. The life of Pablo, featuring Cudi released in February, while Passion, Pain and Demon Slayin in December. As Kanye have been unusually quiet the whole year, Kid Cudi will kick off his 27 cities tour in September. A source close to both men reportedly said, “They’re going to drop some surprise project on everybody. It’s just Cudi, Kanye and an engineer.”
