Albums/Projects You To Need To Hear This Fall

When it comes to fall, we have two things we can always look forward to: layering up and wearing Timbs and getting exposed to new music. If you haven’t been paying attention, this past month until now has been project gems from various artists of various genres including King Krule, Princess Nokia and more and you better believe  we are here for it.  Here are some of the projects that we can’t keep from our ears and aux cords at the moment:

Let’s start with the R&B wave. R&B no longer has one kind of sound, but instead holds different gates to different feel good vibes that feed our soul and snatch our edges every now and then. This season, we were graced by Daniel Caesars debut album Freudian . The album takes us to church and back with the help of  Syd, Kali Uchis for “Get You”, H.E.R, and Charlotte Day Wilson. If you love his previous EP Pilgrim’s Paradise , you will definitely enjoy this 10-track project.

The soulful singer is currently on his Freudian tour along with a very soulful songstress who goes by the name Snoh Alegra who also just released her album Feels. If you haven’t got into the singer, you may have to catch up. She has a voice you do not want to miss out on and her album takes you down a road of 13 emotion and thought provoking tracks featuring Vic Mensa, Vince Staples, Logic, and Timbuktu.

Speaking of songstresses, Kelela recently also dropped her debut album Take Me Apart as well as Sabrina Claudio who just dropped called About Tme. On Kelela’s album, she explores love on a spectrum that ranges in perspective from the good to the bad. On Claudio’s album, you can expect sensual vibes throughout 12 tracks including “Unravel Me” and one feature from fellow singer 6lack.

Last but not least, five different artists recently dropped projects that have us talking and drinking wine on Saturday nights in the crib. We formerly recognize these singers as Jhene AikoBrent Faiyaz ,DVSN., Ty Dolla $ign, and Chris Brown. Jhene allows her audience to take a Trip into her alter ego Penny and the nostalgic moments and realizations surrounding the loss of her brother. Brent Faiyaz of the group Sonders recently dropped a solo album called Sonder’s Son that has us shook with his voice and overall mature perspective on lost love, dream chasing, reminiscent moments, and the highs and lows of joining the fast life. With DVSN, the OVO signed group delivers their second album entitled Morning After that hands us a sprinkle of Maxwell influence, being hesitant-less towards love, and soothing melodic tones. Ty Dolla Sign recently dropped his Beach House 3 album and it’s a great project to say the least.

The album includes contribution s from Lil Wayne, YG, 24hrs, Wiz Khalifa, and MadeinTYO to Swae Lee ,Jeremih, Future, Damian Marley, and many more. It’s definitely not hard  to find a fave amongst the album but some of our personal favorites would have to be “Ex”, “Dont Judge Me”,  “Stare”, and “Dawson’s Breek”.  On Chris Brown’s album Heartbreak on a Full Moon,  you can find melodic MJ influences on songs like  “Even” as well as abstract sounds across 45 different tracks. Yes, you read this right, 45.  The best way to hear this album is through the aux, honestly and truly. There’s no other experience like it.

A genre we often place in the same sentence with R&B is hip hop and this season, MC’s have been stepping out to show and tell their new projects. As of recently, rappers like Gucci Mane,  G Herbo, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Young Thug and Future have done just that. Right before Gucci said his I do’s and post releasing his book , the legendary rapper and mentor released his 11th studio album Mr.Davis with executive production by Gucci and other contributing production from Myles Harris to Metro Boomin, Zaytoven, Southside, Ben Billions, Key Wane,Mike Will Made It and many more.  The album also includes features from Nicki Minaj, Monica, Chris Brown, Migos, The Weeknd, ASAP Rocky, Big Sean, Ty Dolla Sign, Schoolboy Q, Slim Jxmmi, Young Dolph and Rico Love.

Next we have Chi-town’s G.Herbo that released  his debut album (featuring Lil Uzi Vert,Lil Bibby, Bump J, Lil Yachty, and Jeremih) entitled Humble Beast that not only features self -reflecting content but also club-boppin’ tracks like “Everything” which you may have came across through memes via internet.  New York’ s A Boogie also released an album entitled The Bigger Artist that ranges in guest features from Robin Thicke to 21 Savage and ranges from topics of love to fame.

Last but definitely not least, this passed Friday allowed audiences everywhere to acess the joint mix-tape between Young Thug and Future entitled Super Slimey that many are giving praise. The album features Offset, shared perspectives, an acknowledgement to Future and Young Thug’s late studio engineer Seth Firkins, and  Southside, Richie Souf, Wheezy, London on Da Track, and Mike Will Made-It production.

In addition to  this album, Big K.R.I.T also  revisited the sounds of the south with his album 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time that give us a combination  of feels  of  when we first  heard See Me  On Top 4 and Cadillactica .

Another artist that takes us on a spin with their latest album is King Krule with his album The OOZ.  The English alternative Indie Rock/ Trip Hop artist dives into  third studio album as Archy Marshall, and his second album under the  name King Krule with 19-tracks so your bound to like at least six of them at minimum. Some people came to acknowledge King Krule as an artist before 2013 but some people like me came to discover him through my likings of Mac Demarco and Cosmo Pyke. Archy is not only one of England’s most credible song-writers, but he is also a producer or “beat maker”, a graffiti artist, and even has been cosigned through the liking of his passed songs like “Easy Easy” by Beyonce.  I think it’s safe to say that it’s never too late to discover artistry and this is probably the best season to do so.
