Crispy Chi-Town rap greats, The Cool Kids, went their separate ways an odd number of years ago–but the duo, comprised of Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks, are back and seemingly here to stay.
The eclectic lyricists recently blessed fans with the blaring, 808-heavy “TV Dinner,” as well as an accompanying visual to match released exclusively via Tidal. Under the direction of Jimmy Regular, we find the pair tapping into their acting chops as they assume different characters on-screen, such as on-air reporter Lance Bingemton and talk show host Mowry.
“We took it back to Chicago where it all started for The Cool Kids, and shot something that would capture the energy and humor of the song,” Mikey Rocks told Billboard upon the video’s release.
The uptempo track, which samples a Rick James’ classic “Mary Jane,” is a timely reminder of The Cool Kids’ lyrical abilities as well. “TV Dinner” is the first single off the duo’s forthcoming album, Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe, set to debut sometime this Spring.
