On Sunday night, many tuned in for ESPN’s The Undefeated In-Depth: Serena with Common to watch both discuss the dynamics of race, gender, fame, and sports. Williams talked about how she came from humble beginnings and was under the tutelage of her father Richard Williams per his effort for her and her sister Venus Williams to avoid the ever-present gang life and rampant street violence of her neighborhood. 2. Ceelo Green lets fans know he is okay following disturbing exploding phone video

CeeLo Green went to Facebook Live on Saturday evening to address a shocking video that surfaced earlier that day. The video captured the artist/producer inside a recording studio holding his phone to his ear while sitting in a chair. CeeLo appeared to be speaking on the phone before the device suddenly exploded, knocking him out of his seat and onto the floor where he laid motionless. The disturbing footage sparked concern over CeeLo’s well-being, but it turns out, it wasn’t real.

Following the video’s release, CeeLo went to social media to address the footage and to reassure fans he was OK. He explained the clip was a part of an upcoming project.

3. Watch Chance The Rapper’s amazing ‘SNL’ performances

On this week’s episode of SNL, featuring guest host Casey Affleck, Chance The Rapper put on a stellar performance of “Finish Line” / “Drown” with his special guest. His second performance was a stripped down piano version of “Same Drugs” backed by an orchestra and background vocals by Third Story and Abbey Smith. Watch both videos above and below.

4. YG drops video for “I’m A Thug Pt. 2”


Nearly a month after YG announced the third installment of his Just Re’d Up series, the Compton rapper confirmed DJ Mustard would serve as the tape’s executive producer. YG’s new video for Red Friday track “I’m a Thug Part 2” was directed by Austin Simkins. Red Friday is available everywhere now as of Friday, watch the video for “I’m a Thug Part 2” below.

5. TDE announces third annual holiday concert and toy giveaway


Top Dawg Entertainment is ending another year by giving back to their fans. The hip-hop record label will host its third annual holiday concert and toy giveaway in Watts, California. The public event will include performances by TDE’s roster of artists as well as donations to families in need.

The concert began back in 2014, after Jay Rock and TDE’s CEO, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, decided to show love to their hometown. The men admitted the holiday season wasn’t easy for them as children, and they wanted to use their platforms to spread cheer around their old communities. Of course, the rest of the TDE jumped on board.
