Gosha Rubchinskiy is Styling a Generation

The lines between streetwear and high fashion couture have grown increasingly blurred. Artists and fashion icons alike can be seen pairing high end with accessible labels that have gained popularity among the youth.

Gosha Rubchinskiy‘s post-communist labels optimizes this dichotomy in fashion, styling high quality garments with an effortlessly casual flair. In fashion-terms, the line is crafted and styled to be ready-to-wear.

As Fashion Week ensues, we often look to Paris, London, Milan, and New York, rarely considering any spaces in between. Rubchinskiy highlights and reflects on his roots and the history of his people by, almost exclusively, displaying his pieces on the backs of regional Eastern European boys in areas of Europe overlooked by many. The renowned designer debuted his most recent AW17 in the former German Russian province of Kaliningrad to represent the unification of the German and Russian brand icons Adidas and Gosha Rubchinskiy.

Deliberately or not, Gosha Rubchinskiy has crafted a style that is growing increasingly characteristic of today’s fashion-forward youth. His work seamlessly satiates our admiration for the notoriety of brands, cozy enough to wear around town, and fly enough to make a statement. Take a walk around LES, SoHo, or Williamsburg and you’re guaranteed to run into a few lads dressed like they’re fresh off Rubchinskiy’s Kaliningrad runway.
