If you’re like me, you’ve had Lil Yatchy’s song for Sprite on a continual repeat since you’ve heard it in their latest commercial. If you haven’t heard it, I placed it down below so you can fully comprehend why I have Yatchy playing in my head at all times of day now. The 19 year old is on a roll, and this time he will be joined by pop star, Carly Rae Jepsen.
The almost oddly paired duo came together to do a remake of the classic, “It Takes Two,” by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock. The song was produced by Mike Will Made-It for a Target sponsored video that will be played on a commercial break during the Grammy’s on February 12th. Jepsen spoke to EW about the whole experience, which included a last minute verse from the artist herself.
“I got a late-night phone call from my A&R person, who was like, ‘We’re missing one verse, and they’re wondering if you wouldn’t mind writing a rap and coming in and recording it tonight.’ It was one of the most intimidating moments of my career being in the room with Mike Will and Yachty and sixteen other friends of theirs just partying. They’re like, ‘Alright, go perform your first-ever rap in front of actual professional rappers!’ There’s nothing more terrifying than that. But they were really helpful,” says Jepsen.
